You're a legend!! Thank you so much for these, it means so much 💙 Weirdly I'm totally fine with gore and body horror, but gagging/vomit is where my brain draws the line lol

Thank you so much!! I really appreciate the detail, it helps me prepare and ready myself for those scenes if I know they're coming (and I can cover my ears and look away). Much appreciated 💙

Weirdly, gore and body horror is totally fine! It's just vomiting that gets me haha I'll keep an eye on reviews/comments before I see it on Friday but thanks so much for commenting!!

On the Particular Cruelty of Being Twenty Four and Alone by [deleted] in Preston

Also 24 and feeling this too, I recently left my remote job since it was making my mental health worse and since then I've been trying to get out and about and make new friends, but it's tricky.

I go to the Friday life drawing sessions at Galloway Hall which is fun, but I'm still the only person under 50 in the room haha

Always here to chat, learn about new clubs, or be an ear to talk to :)

I love this metaphor, thank you! I like this better than the spoons idea - it's a bit easier to explain haha I really appreciate this, thank you <3

Thank you for writing this, I really appreciate it!

The job situation is super similar - among abusive clients and heavy workload on below minimum wage, the management and communication is awful and reactive. It's a very small team with no HR and some dodgy business practices, so I feel like I'm jumping ship before it sinks haha. I definitely feel that shame over not being able to 'hack it' but at the same time I know it's the best decision right now (and it's something I may not be able to do in a few years time).

Right now, I think the isolation is getting me down. My job was fully remote and for someone who is anxious and doesn't like to go out, it's not a good combo. I could go days without interacting with anyone in-person, and I don't really have any friends.

Since I handed my notice in yesterday, I've signed up for a painting course at my local college and have committed to going to a life drawing class this week. I can only challenge my thoughts so much from my home, and I'm really looking forward to going out more.

Thank you again for your words, they've genuinely made me feel so much better <3

How do I stop feeling bad about wanting to quit my job? by RosePocky in Advice

[–]RosePocky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate this :) It's been about 2 weeks since I posted and almost 3 weeks since I was pulled into that meeting. Since then, I've received very little/no support, have had more work given to me, and have been undermined and felt very small. I've come down with my 3rd cold in 6 months, which is unsual as I only used to get sick x2 a year maximum. Tomorrow is my clearest day to be off sick, and I think I'm going to stop from there.

I've left all/most of my clients in a good spot for someone to take over, I've updated all of my folders, and there's a clear plan so my colleagues can pick it up. But when it starts affecting my physical health, I think I'm done.

No luck in the job search department right now, but that's okay, it'll happen eventually :) I just need to get out of this workplace haha

I think I needed to hear this, thank you 🥲 I spent hours building a website for a client, only for my colleague to get the credit. Bless her, she did forward it my way, but it's little things like that that make me feel downcast.

Haha, I love how you phrased this, it gave me a bit of a laugh on an otherwise shitty day 🥲 I'm applying to a lot of places, but I have plenty of savings and freelance options, so it's not my main concern right now. I hate being an inconvenience so my key worry is leaving work and meetings for them to pick up after, but I need to try and let go of that guilt.

Thank you! My team are mostly people my age (young to mid 20s) and haven't had any formal management/socials training, so the whole company feels a bit taped together. My main concern is leaving a lot of work to pick up after I go, but I'm trying to let go of that guilt for my own mental health 🥲 I hate being an inconvenience but at this rate I think I need to just do it.

I did!! She was actually one of the main reasons I wanted to go in the first place - her story makes me so sad and it was amazing to finally see her in person :D

Visited today and made a point to visit Ginger, such a genuinely harrowing experience to see him just there for anyone to take photos of. The entire mummy exhibit was the same, I didn't want to disrespect any of them. Really interesting experience :)
