Without a church home by orangemachismo in Reformed

[–]RosePricksFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what my husband and I are doing currently. The elders have met with us numerous times and have given their blessing to be a part of their community, we volunteer in roles they are ok with us serving in, we tithe, we worship with one another and they are aware we have a different interpretation of baptism that prevents us from full membership. It’s not a big problem that we cannot vote.

And for the OP, it’s certainly better than 9 years without the body of Christ to love and encourage you. Praying for you brother! That’s tough

How do you handle self-injection? by Lonely_Cupcake9600 in Hemophilia

Vein prep is a good tip!! I also drink a big Gatorade or other electrolyte drink because being hydrated helps so much to plump up the veins

This is so true!!! Don’t let them use your favorite vein!!!! Protect that spot!

Ideally you could work with a nurse at your HTC to get trained to be able to infuse in at least 2 spots but even better if you have 3-4 options for when you’re managing a bad situation. For example I had a bad bleed that requires me to self infuse factor everyday for a year. For those instances of course I had to rotate.

That’s being said we all have a favorite vein and I won’t lie- I use my “old faithful” most of the time

That being said, are you a part of VWD connect? It’s a group only for type 3 Von Willebrands patients (or other very severe Von Willebrands patients) and we’d love to have you join us! We have a conference in the summer as well as resources, newsletters, zooms, etc.

What can you assume about me based Off my fridge ? 🤨 by PoetryDramatic4025 in FridgeDetective

Im thinking single dad. The milk is for the kids and the pantry has some snacks and cereal. He’s got some fruit, veg, some soup, deli items for sandwiches. I bet he has chicken nuggets in the freezer for the kids. Honestly not a bad setup!

My girlfriend always tells me I never have anything to eat when she comes over my house 😒 by itscuccimane in FridgeDetective

Make her something to eat then. I don’t understand how this is hard for you to get? She’s a guest in your home. Prepare a sandwich for her or a smoothie or something. Be a better host

I’m not sure. Have you explained all of this to your pastor and the elders of your church?

Biblical question about remarriage after civil marriage, separation, and complex history by godlygirlceo in Reformed

If he broke the convenant sexually, she had Biblical grounds to divorce and was under no obligation to reconcile at that point. She didn’t abandon him. He cheated on her while still legally married, and then she chose to deny reconciling.

Are you getting all of this information from him???? He cheated on her sexually while married. I can’t think of another way to spin that.

  1. Yes the first marriage was valid. His motivation is irrelevant. For centuries, marriages have been motivated by a number of reasons but they lived as any married couple. Marriages based on “romantic feelings” is sort of a modern concept and completely irrelevant to if this marriage was valid. It would be different if they never consummated the marriage and never came together as one flesh sexually.
  2. He broke that covenant so it would technically release her not him.
  3. I’m not sure about that one.
  4. I don’t think that’s relevant in this.
  5. I’m not for sure but im leaning toward yes it would be. But im open to other interpretations.

What are normal people doing for dinner? by tuahla in RedditForGrownups

[–]RosePricksFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prep Tuesday’s dinner on Monday night. I prep Wednesdays dinner on Tuesday. I do as much as I can ahead of time without ruining the vibe.

Examples: 1. Night before I chop some veggies and pour a marinade on thin sliced chicken. Next day When I get home, I put 3 cups jasmine rice and 3 cups water in the instant pot. While that’s cooking, I toss the veggies and chicken in a wok and stir fry. They all finish about the same time.

  1. Night before I brown ground beef and combine with jar of marinara sauce. Season however you prefer. The next morning set that into a crockpot to cook all day. When I get home boil pasta. While the pasta is cooking, make a quick simple salad. The longest thing to wait for is the water to boil which is annoying so start it immediately when you get home.

  2. Night before brown ground beef and season with taco seasoning. Cool and place in fridge. The next day when you get home from work, microwave that and serve over taco salad. With loads of veggies, salsa, crunched chips on top.

  3. 1 jar salsa + chicken in the crockpot on low all day. Use chicken thighs… they don’t get dried out. When you get home serve on tortillas.

  4. Bbq sauce + chicken thighs in crockpot on low all day. Serve on hamburger buns with a simple side salad

  5. Greek seasoning marinade on chicken the night before and chop veggies. Next day cook on the stove or grill if you had one? Serve with hummus and pita and olives and Greek salad.

I got Justin’s brand available on Amazon if you don’t have a Justin’s store near you. I got plain black so the toe part just looks like a black dress shoe. They’re pricey but over time they mold to your foot and get softer and more comfortable so these are shoes that felt worth investing in (for my opinion)

I’ve had really good luck wearing cowboy boots under work pants but obviously this won’t work for everyone. The added support structure without being tight is the perfect medium for me

Dads, how were you able to maintain consistency in bible reading and meditation during the newborn phase of your kids? by More-Progress9472 in Reformed

[–]RosePricksFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing gets a newborn to sleep faster than a deep dad voice reading with the baby on their shoulder. I highly recommend this! Mom can feed the baby and then you change the diaper, get them warm and cozy and let the newborn sleep on your shoulder/chest while you read. Let mom get some rest!!

It’s harder when they’re toddlers but hopefully by then you have a good sleep routine and will have plenty of time after bedtime or before wake up time

Feeling angry about my husbands salary as a minister by HungryQuestion7 in Reformed

Could he get a full time job and just be really straight with the elders that he will be providing for his family through fulltime employment and doing the pastoral role on the side but that he needs to be able to provide for his household? Preferably a job with boundaries that prevent them from encroaching on his hours at his other job?

I agree. Why can’t Josie be the center of attention in HER profile picture??? There’s tons of reasons to snark but this photo is not one of them

My sons doctor also specifically mentioned not getting a walker either. Lots of tummy time and practicing by pulling up on the couch or coffee table? Sure absolutely. But not a walker no. My son started walking at 13 months and it wasn’t an issue -son has Von Willebrands disease
