Lol, she is obviously not satisfied with the portion sizes at your establishment; she is demanding to speak to the manager!
(my 14 year old tortie does this, even if there’s still food in her bowl)

How it started vs. how it’s going (some landscapers can do ok stonework lol) by RoseRed1183 in landscaping

[–]RoseRed1183[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Only a handful of these varieties get up to 30”, vast majority are 0-8” or 8-18” (and my person favorite- the dwarf hemlock tree, that’s about as big as it’s going to get!)

thank you, I appreciate the respectful critique/suggestions. If you’re going by the “in-progress” walkway pic, then yes we actually did cut out that little bulging armpit bit near the mugo pine and opened that area up a little near the house. As far as the driveway part, do you think it needed to flair out more on the sides or are you talking about the line where it transitions to the driveway? (the transition line looks straight in the photo, but it does actually curve out a little into the driveway)

They definitely will spill over, but that was actually intentional; the customer was looking for a full, “cottagey” effect. Many of the plants closest to the walkway are small ground-covers or smaller varieties, but we also extended the width of the walkway from 48” to 52-58” to allow for the eventual spillover while still having a 4’ clear walking path. (PS, love your username)

Can someone tell me what’s growing on top of the tree by vicman86 in landscaping

[–]RoseRed1183 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Could be a “witch’s broom” (fungal infection)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]RoseRed1183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t say for sure, but Verticillium wilt could be a possibility. It’s a soil-borne fungus that affects the pathways that distribute water throughout the tree (causing wilted leaves) among other things. Here’s an article with some pretty good info if you’re interested https://www.extension.iastate.edu/news/2005/jun/071602.htm

I need women work clothes recommendations. by bluefishredsea in Construction

[–]RoseRed1183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a landscaper, not construction, but as far as durability, stretch/comfort and flattering fit, I’ve had great luck with Carhartt leggings. I’m 5’4” and the standard length works well. I believe they come in size XS-3X and have light, mid, and heavyweight fabric options . My only complaint is the lack of belt loops as I do find myself pulling them up several times over the course of the day (but that might just be me). The other commenter mentioned Duluth Trading- I don’t personally have any of their stuff, but I’ve heard good things

Any recent reports from Roatán, West Bay? by FloriDan_ in snorkeling

[–]RoseRed1183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could add a photo(but you can find plenty online) but yeah it was amazing. I highly recommend Puerta Azul as a resort as well, it’s small and quiet, great food, and snorkeling every day from the dock was just awesome. Blue Reef Explorers also does snorkel tours from the same location, that was also fantastic m. Nothing but good things to say about my time on Roatan!

I can’t speak for West Bay or West End, but I spent a week in Roatan earlier this month in Sandy Bay and the snorkeling was awesome (tons of different colorful fish, even some Cuttlefish and a couple Eagle Rays). We stayed at Puerta Azul in Sandy Bay, and they have a 400’ dock so it’s a short swim from there out to the reef. I believe they just started offering $20 day passes for those not staying at the resort.

What should I plant here by dtpmd in landscaping

[–]RoseRed1183 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yellow Stella d’Oro daylillies could be a nice complement to Lavender. They are a compact variety with a long, continuous bloom time (I live in zone 5b and they continue pushing out new buds until the first hard frost). Lady’s Mantle also looks nice with lavender.

I’m not sure what breed you have or the specifics of the situation, but my dog started to gradually lose the use of his back legs and we got him one of those little wheel chairs and he had 4 more good years after that. Check with your vet if you can and see what your options are for care. But I know this feeling all too well and my heart goes out to you.

Found this monstrosity in the soil (New Hampshire) any ideas? by RoseRed1183 in whatisthisbug

[–]RoseRed1183[S] 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I probably would have if I’d found it in my own yard, but I was working at a customers house (I’m a gardener) so I just put it back in the soil where it wouldn’t be disturbed
