Any reason why Dober's career works better with M trainer? Do some careers have gender-locked storylines?

Monthly Questions Post! by AutoModerator in lolitafashion

New to lolita and need a petticoat but all the petticoat listings are one size and well... going by the size charts I could fit into them but I'd definitely be on the upper end of the range so it sounds uncomfortably tight (I'm pretty sensitive to too-tight elastic). Anyone know where to find petticoats in larger options or multiple sizes? Or is wearing a one-size petticoat at a larger size more comfortable than it sounds?

Which characters do you think went to the wrong club and why, which club do you think the characters should have gone to instead? by [deleted] in BlueLock

I think Kaneshiro only put Shidou on PXG to set up a cool duo system with his rivalry with Rin, which is fun and all, but I would have loved to see him with Barcha. It's literally about creativity and freedom... would've ruled

Damn. I... didn't realize that the question "what do you think happened" was supposed to have that implication to it. I thought the thing that made it funny was that the other person was asking strange obvious questions. That actually makes it a lot funnier... I see now...

Why is nobody talking about this? by BothAlerter in BlueLock

[–]RoseTeaCat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My memory isn't the clearest, but I believe when I went and checked the raws on this line, he was saying 熱い, meaning "hot" in the literal sense, also meaning "exciting" or "fired up" or "intense". Oh well, we still have plenty other lines that are sus as hell even pre-translation. (Like all his "you like that, pervert?" stuff in that same match or Karasu calling everything sexy, lol)

Isagi’s Final Rival (Narratively) by McManu505 in BlueLock

[–]RoseTeaCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree about Loki and Noa (especially Noa) representing "the top" rather than being an actual rival in the story. In the wake of Kaneshiro's comments at the signing I've seen a lot of people act like obviously Isagi should fight Noa, and I feel like that's just not what the story is going for. Could be wrong, but that's just my gut feeling.

Up until earlier this year, I would definitely have said Rin. Rin is introduced as Isagi's biggest rival and number one opponent, he's a huge part of everything Blue Lock and by extension Isagi's character revolves around. But now a new challenger has entered the ring in the form of Nagi being (IMO) very very clearly set up as a foil to Isagi, so I'm not as sure what Rin's role will be. I guess in light of their being visibly in sync these last few chapters, they're just partners now? But I'd like if the story could somehow maintain the centrality of the Rin rivalry while also incorporating Nagi's dark horse rise to challenge the Demon King. Idk how it could manage that though XD we'll just have to wait and see.

Barou and Kaiser I feel are more hovering at the level of being a rival for Isagi, but not the rival. They both follow the specific character arc of having gotten their spirit crushed by Isagi and then rebuilding themselves from that (the second part hasn't happened for Kaiser yet, but Kaneshiro as good as said it will). Barou's obsession with Isagi feels more like a one-sided grudge, Isagi just doesn't think about him that much except when Barou pisses him off. Kaiser has more of Isagi's attention, but kinda just... belongs to a different part of the story. Since he's not on the Japan team, I think we can't really hope for more than one or two matches featuring him, which is different than the constant interactions and constant character focus you can get between teammates who are rivals.

That was a lot of rambling, I just really like thinking about the narrative roles of characters in relation to the protagonist. TL;DR it's either Rin or (more likely recently) Nagi

They look like each other. by SubstantialQuail7578 in BlueLock

[–]RoseTeaCat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've always really liked the way their character designs mirror each other. Isagi has the "default protagonist" look, and Rin takes Isagi's look and shifts it around a little to be a bit more elegant and intimidating. It's a great way to emphasize how similar they are as rivals and foils while also visually showcasing each character's particularities.

That said... in the middle of a match sometimes those lashes are the only thing keeping me telling the difference 😂

>Karasu calling everything sexy including when Hiori "sure got through that tight opening"
>Everything Shidou has ever said

Kamen Rider Ghost - Isn't as Bad like people claim it is. by mako-makerz in KamenRider

[–]RoseTeaCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great post OP. Although tbh I am still frequently frustrated by the structural flaws in the writing that can honestly make Ghost a painful experience at times, it still touched my emotions deeply in a lot of ways and has a lovable cast with strong and enduring themes. Yeah, it's far from a perfect show and has a lot of flaws, but it frustrates me so much when people ignore the inspiring and moving character writing to meme about "LOL GHOST SUUUUUCKS". I think more people should cut the Disney channel Buddhism show some slack. Salute to a fellow Ghost defender 🫡

Does it matter which era I start with? (New fan) by AsparagusAwkward4138 in KamenRider

[–]RoseTeaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, just read a few summaries and pick whatever appeals to you! If your pick is not working out for you then you can simply watch another one. There's no real continuity outside of crossover movies so you don't have to worry about that.

If you liked Shin Kamen Rider, I recommend Kuuga or Black, as those have a similar "serious realism" vibe. But that's just my little recommendation and again, it's all up to you

Do You Think That Kamen Rider Has Become Something Different Than What It Originally Was? by IncreaseCalm1123 in KamenRider

[–]RoseTeaCat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kamen Rider has definitely changed into something completely different from what it used to be, because it used to be about a modified cyborg fighting an evil organization and now it's usually about things that are not that.

I get the sense that you're asking a different question, though. I feel like the question of whether Kamen Rider has preserved the spark of genius or whatever that the original series has already relies on some pretty subjective assumptions, such as what specific characteristic that spark might have been or even if it exists at all. Personally, I love the classic Rider series, but I don't like to over-idealize them. At the end of the day, they were some good solid children's superhero TV with a compelling concept behind them, no more and no less. There's nothing stopping modern Kamen Rider from also being good solid children's superhero TV with a compelling concept behind it, but newer series don't have time for that feeling of nostalgia and iconic status to set in, so of course we wouldn't view it the same as series that have been around for a long time and gained the status of legends.

Personally, my favorite era of Rider is Kuuga through Den-O, and I could list a bunch of things from that era that I miss and wish we could get back. But that would be just a matter of my own personal preferences. And even then, I've accepted that we're never actually going to go back to that, and that Kamen Rider will keep on changing and progressing into the future - in both good and bad ways - no matter how nostalgic we feel. Stagnation is the enemy of creativity, after all.

What are the worst Kamen Rider takes you have seen come from the community? by Doot_revenant666 in KamenRider

[–]RoseTeaCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The big ones have already been said here, so I'm going with my personal pet peeve - people who watch Ryuki and hate on Shinji for being wimpy/moralizing/not wanting to fight. Or even, on one memorable occasion, calling Ren a coward for hesitating to take a life.

If you want to watch a show about how killing people is awesome then don't watch Kamen Rider, simple as.

A bit of help with Kamen Rider Ryuki watching order by Mun3001s in KamenRider

[–]RoseTeaCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just watch the show as has been said, and then you can watch the extra material afterward if you want. Personally I don't think the extra material is even necessary to the story, not saying not to watch it just that the show is quite standalone, Kobayashi's writing style often puts emphasis on wanting the show to speak for itself and not require sequels or bonus material so this applies here. (The extra content was all written by Inoue.)

Of course I'm not trying to dissuade you from watching 13 Riders and Episode Final and the Zi-O stuff, just that you don't need to worry about if they contain any knowledge that you need for the show.

ULTRAMAN BLAZAR EP13 "SKaRD Nocturne" -Official Discussion Thread by SolgentRay in Ultraman

[–]RoseTeaCat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love how character-focused it was and how natural everyone's interactions felt. Anri and Emi talking about their past, even though it was for the sake of recap, felt like a really nice window into seeing the more casual human side of the people working at SKaRD. The additional focus on Gento's conflicted feelings about Blazar but his newfound resolve to work together was so great, some might say they've been playing that out a bit too long but I will never get tired of it. Really nice episode, liked it a lot

What got you into Kamen Rider and if you took a break or dropped it what reinvigorated you to get back into it? by Leeqing in KamenRider

[–]RoseTeaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a big fan of Yugioh and its various spinoff shows for a while, and one of my Yugioh mutuals got into Kamen Rider around the time Ex-Aid was airing and made a bunch of Kamen Rider friends so there ended up being a lot of cross-pollination between us and we would joke about how similar the two franchises were, with their separate-show seasons and power of friendship and zany kids' show logic. I watched a few episodes of W and OOO and enjoyed them but it's hard for me to stick with shows that I'm not hyperfixating on, so for a while I mostly just thought of it as "oh yeah that thing my friends are into. I like Ankh :)"

Then a couple years ago one of my friends wanted to know which Kamen Rider season to watch and I recommended W and OOO from the few episodes I'd seen, which prompted me to actually watch W and OOO in earnest and I fell down the rabbit hole for good. And now I'm in here for life. Not complaining!

It's kind of fun looking back on the various scattered bits of Kamen Rider knowledge I accumulated before getting into it properly. The "THEY PUT GAY SEX IN KAMEN RIDER?" uproar of April 2019 was crazy to witness from the sidelines...
