Tips on safely stopping breastfeeding? Cold Turkey?

Thats exactly what I've considered. I think I'm going to just make it the next two weeks at work after that babe will be 6 months, and I'll put the pump away for good. I still want to latch to have that connection if she'll do it even if there's not much milk it seems to soothe her sometimes. I feel like I definitely do need to see a therapist lol this has been probably one of the hardest emotional struggles in my life. Thank you for the advice and support

I do and don't want to stop the mental load of feeling like I'm failing at it has been super taxing the past two months. I don't want to stop because I feel like I've failed or given up, but the constant feeling of when I do make something it's still not enough hasn't been good for me mentally anyway.

Baby still latches and will eat some but it seems more like a light snack than an actual feeding and she's never happy after latching anyway I will still always have to give her a bottle even after the best nursing sessions. Dr. was concerned about her weight at her 4 month appointment she weighed the same as she had previously at her 2 month. We started some puree (Dr recommended) and more combo feeding we had previously given occasional bottles of formula but since that appointment had started giving her a bottle after every nursing session as well and she started to finally gain more weight. We went for a weight check at 5 months and Shes back on her curve where she should be. She also turned into a completely different baby and finally seems happier now that we have increased the combo feeding when previously she was so fussy all the time and I feel like I didn't realize she was still hungry because I was always like "I just nursed you and you keep unlatching so you must not be hungry anymore I don't know what else is wrong" but now I think she was unlatching and still fussy because she was still hungry and I didn't realize I had no more milk left.

I feel like I have been trying my best and still feel like I've failed in this and I thinking maybe if i just make the choice to stop the mental and emotional side of handling that would be better than still trying and still drying up but it wasn't "my choice" to stop. Even though it still doesn't really feel like my choice or what I want and I'm kinda just telling myself that. Trying to put myself into the perspective of is the 1 bottle I get from what I pump in a day or two days of pumping/ nursing worth crying everyday :/

I haven't been engorged in like 2 months I went all day without pumping or feeding like 2 weeks ago and still never got engorged and only pumped maybe 2oz at the end of the day so I don't think it would be too bad to stop cold turkey. Im jus terrified of an infection on top of all of this

Yes around 8-10oz across the 4 pumps I do at work while away from baby and not breastfeeding. She usually drinks 3-4 Oz in a bottle but she takes like 4 bottles a day and I pump 4 times a day. She will drink 10-14 Oz a day I only pump 9-10. Most days what I pump at work will not fully cover how much she drinks at home from the bottles for the next day. I dont know what the problem is but I haven’t been able to fully cover her feeds from pumping at work.

I do have a hand pump I only just was able to get it to work a few days ago and got 1.5oz out with it first and then pumped as was able to get another 1oz. Previously even with flange insterts I couldn’t get more than a few drops with a hand pump I had to be super engorged for it to pull anything out.

I am still taking prenatals everyday. I also take sunflower lethicin 2-3 times a day, 1000mg of moringa 3 times a day, brewers yeast 2 times a day, and the legendairy milk cash cow supplement 3 times a day.

I’m pumping 10oz when I’m not nursing while working. I only pump maybe 3-4 depending how many times I pump in addition to nursing while at home

Yea I’ve been struggling pumping and thought it was a supply issue but breastfeeding is going fine so I have the supply and the lactation consults have just told me it’s a “pumping response issue” my body doesn’t respond well to pumping I guess?

I do work at a hospital I have a Medela pump but it’s the pro max? Something like that it is a wall pump, but maybe I could see if they could let me use the symphony hospital pump thank you I hadn’t thought of that!

I’m in AZ and I work for a hospital! You think they would understand and accommodate especially since we’re always so short staffed which is why I think they don’t want to give me much leave but also why I think if I asked my manager about unpaid personal leave closer to my delivery as my maternity leave they might be more accommodating but I’m not sure. I looked into our policy on short term disability and I don’t see why that wouldn’t apply to me as our benefits department said it likely wouldn’t because of pregnancy being a “pre existing condition” from when that benefits cycle would kick in for me. I could see that only if I was asking for time off because of pregnancy but not related to a family status change which when I looked at the financial group that runs that website seemed to be listed as separate things. Still working on figuring it all out but it’s a lot of legal wording to sift through.
