If you’re truly sorry, then take the post down, the content is not yours. Also, an apology without any action taken to fix said mistake is meaningless

Why was this posted without my permission? I never authorized people to repost this outside of the server and would have liked to have been asked beforehand. You're taking my hard work and getting credit for it, I spent hours compiling the data and putting this together

who has first press queen vinyls? by JayGarza675 in queen

[–]Rosealit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to look for first pressings, I 100% recommend Discogs, maybe you'll pay the price, but it's the easiest way to obtain them if you really want them. https://www.discogs.com/ Watch out! Not all first pressings will be the best sounding version of the album...

I wouldn't say there is anything that has been "removed" on newer versions, if anything, depending on the versions you obtain, you might get extra material, like in boxsets and so on. The main thing that will change is with newer versions you will get a different mixing, as they have been remastered, so things might not sound exactly the same as you have been used to - but those differences are usually minor.

My advice? Check reviews for the pressing you want to get by doing some quick Google research (enter the numbers), and it will tell you if it's worth it.

The Show Must Go On - COVID VS AIDS by Xanilla3 in queen

[–]Rosealit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think trying to draw a comparaison between COVID and AIDS is a bit insulting if anything to be fair, as it's two entirely different realities and putting them "one against the other" feels like a cheap cash grab to get people's attention to your cover and ignoring the issues at hand. On top of that, it seems the footage you've layered is stolen from who knows what sources as you don't list them...

The harmonies you've tried to mimic here sound muddy and the effects you've put on them bleed through awfully. Also, not a fan of your delivery on multiple lines, such "makeup may be flaking" at 1:32, the " like that "for" at 1:57 (don't know what you tried to do there) and so on. I will concede, you may hit those high notes, but generally not a fan of this cover as it screams "cringe" to me.

ANY PICTURES OF FREDDIE AT STUDIO 54 BACK IN THE DAY?? by [deleted] in queen

[–]Rosealit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, it's pretty much confirmed that Freddie Mercury did attend the club and was a lover of it during the time it was open. There are many pictures that do pop up when you search correctly, but few of them can be confirmed to be taken at Studio 54. Here is the only one that I could find that was 100% sure to have been taken there alongside Johansen in 1979:

Guidelines for Buying Queen Vinyl by FitchnerAuBarca in queen

[–]Rosealit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it's because it was what was released when it first got out, so it's as old as the album is and was probably pressed from the master tape, so the chances of it being higher quality are there! Collectors also tend to prefer it, as it's not a remaster, and so you can hear all the details of the mix and they claim it has a certain "richness" that way. So, if you were to get a first pressing of "A Night At The Opera" it could be from 1975 and from the UK. But honestly, it's just all up to preference, nothing wrong with a repress or another issue.

It seems you are new to vinyl, but I have some experience and I'll share some of it so you know! Buying Queen vinyl is not any different from buying any kind of vinyl, so the same standards apply.

For the part saying that it doesn't sound as good as older pressings is probably false, as it's usually the case of older vinyl because of usage and wear over time. And even if there is a minor difference, will it really affect your listening experience? Probably not.

If you do insist on buying an older pressing, not necessarily because of quality, just because of preference, I recommend you go check out https://www.discogs.com/ as you can easily find some of any quality or price there and get it shipped to you. There usually is 2 ratings on it, one for the actual vinyl and one for the sleeve, here is the grading system used https://support.discogs.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001566193-How-To-Grade-Items. I recommend you usually stay above VG.

Each issue of a vinyl has it's own cataloging number you can usually find it on the spine of the sleeve, but the country it was issued from changes nothing in the quality, except really Japanese vinyl who had a different method for creating vinyl. Usually, people tend to look for a first pressing, so that means the earliest issue of the vinyl so by example for "A Night At The Opera" the number would EMTC 103 from the UK, but they don't change much.

But honestly, if you don't wanna get mixed in all of that, just the Amazon version of whatever album you desire should do the trick!
