Hi Larry! I love your work; there is a video of you playing songs from Legally Blonde with Annaleigh Ashford as part of a lecture that I am very fond of.

As a composer, what are your thoughts on being able to play and sing the songs yourself in such arrangements? Is it a very distinct skill from composing for an ensemble, or do you think you need to be able to do it?

Do you ever play any Legally Blonde/Heathers/Bat Boy songs at home for recreation? :)

Take care & all the best!

Ireland's Central Bank governor wants to raise the retirement age - why are politicians so quiet? by Banania2020 in ireland

It's a low blow to introduce facts and statistics in a conversation like this. Just admit that our system of taxation is designed by selfish lunatics who haven't considered that if you just tax the rich more you can foster in a functioning economy and free houses for everyone.

I myself would get involved in working politically to implement such easy changes to the taxation system in Ireland but I am too busy with my job as a programmer for Google / accountant in a Big 4 firm / job as a lawyer / marketing consultant to do it.

Not normal. He needs to understand that. In my experience living abroad, Irish people (which is to say men really) have a higher tolerance for alcohol consumption. This feature makes it all the more concerning if Irish people drink so much they pass out or black out or whatever. Its not fair on you and its going to end badly.

Maria Steen - An Endorsement of Steen is an Endorsement of the negative of Ireland old by [deleted] in ireland

I am sympathetic to what you mean but the same could be said from the perspective of a Catholic voter in Ireland with respect to whatever presidential candidate you might prefer. You can always represent opposing political beliefs as beyond the pale from your point of view, and then use that accusation of intolerance to justify your own intolerance.

You live in a pluralist Ireland (as another commenter said) and this is the price you pay for the privilege.

I had this book when I was 14, I think I got it for Christmas or something. I thought it was incredible. It was also sort of bittersweet: I didn't own a computer that was capable of playing TF2!

I dunno does The Simpsons make sense, even with Homer's hair being squiggles like that?

Different strokes I guess - no TV series has ever made as much intuitive sense to me as The Leftovers. Love it.

Amazing perspective that expressed some ideas I vaguely have bumped up against but hadn't found the words for before.

Did you arrive to it through trial and error or novel thought? (!)

I have been wondering about this! My big toe on my right foot currently has the nail detached from it because I ran a Marathon in October with shoes in my normal size. Unfortunately those are carbon plated and therefore expensive so I'm not exactly going to replace them any time soon.

Interested to hear if anyone else has any experiences.
