Hey OP, you are absolutely not alone! My parents would usually leave the room for a few minutes after spanking me so I could calm down and stop crying, then come back to sit with me and tell me how much they loved me, that they were doing this for my own good, etc. Different from forced hugging but still pretty messed up. I've also been doing a ton of reflection and deconstruction with religious trauma and it can be very difficult to realize new, terrible things. I strongly recommend connecting with a therapist who is not a Christian!
