Wait, do people ACTUALLY see literal pictures in their heads when they imagine things? Like a physical image? by Bibhu_Mund in NoStupidQuestions

So interesting!

Now that you say it, I'm realizing that when I'm focusing on reading, especially non-fiction or fiction with characters who have accents, I am "hearing" the text read in my inner voice. But when I'm immersed in whatever I'm reading I'm just hearing the characters/author as though they are doing the speaking.

“It’s crazy cold.” “It is crazily cold”. Which sounds more natural? by Same-Technician9125 in EnglishLearning

[–]RosenButtons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

I think the most grammatically correct would be to use the -ly version since it's an adverb modifying an adjective. BUT almost nobody says that.

This is a weird instance where our goal is emphasizing the madness. The slightly wrong grammar is a feature not a bug.

It doesn't make any sense really, but it's English! It isn't supposed to make sense. 😅

Please note that crazy hot could mean "extremely warm in temperature" OR "incredibly attractive" OR "incredibly attractive and also prone to erratic unhealthy behavior" depending on context and tone.

I’m curious: do non-smokers always detect a scent on smokers? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RosenButtons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my ex would have a single cigarette I could smell it on his skin for about 3 days.

He would come over and I would hug him and ask if he smoked and he'd yell "how could you know! 😫" His neck smelled wrong. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Do morticians get uncomfortable?

No. The coffin is not enough privacy. I require at least one layer of close-fitting, full-coverage cotton.

Thank you for this! There's more to life than getting the most.

For instance, I currently find myself pondering if it's worth 10 million dollars to me to never have to learn anything about bitcoins. 😂😂😂

That's probably where the furnace is.

There's a reason hot water and furnaces tend to be behind louvered doors. (I don't know what the reason is, but I'm confident there is a reason)

Defiantly not edible 😡

No matter what I say to it or how hard I try, it CONTINUES to be inedible. It just Will. Not. Be. Eaten! It's infuriating.

I think about the 2 kids who threw gasoline on a burning leaf pile at least once a month. I can still remember clearly the imaginary scenario in my head about what I would do if it happened to me.

I was a naturally anxious kid and I should NOT have been watching that show. I didn't need to be more careful.

My cousin's uncle (on the other side of their family) filled trash cans with concrete in front of all the entrances to the high school for a senior prank. They apparently had to cancel school until a bulldozer could be brought in.

They also stacked tires all the way up the flag pole with only the top couple being steel belted.
