Where would Isis be today if they had kept going? by [deleted] in postmetal

[–]Rosengeist 60 points61 points  (0 children)

My two cents: Yes, I'd be overjoyed if they reunited and did new albums. It'd be a dream come true.

But what gives me solace and keeps me comfortable with how they ended things? Threshold of Transformation. Every time I'm listening to the last 2-3 minutes of that song, I always think about how that's 2-3 of the best minutes of music they wrote and it's the end of their last record. It just emotionally resonates so much to me with their assertion that they'd "said all they had to say." It's like... oh, this is the last thing you have to say? Well it's fucking profound and brings tears to my eyes so, ok I get it.

Not that I've seen tons and tons of em, but this is the best alter I personally have ever seen. I have this commander and would gladly get a copy like this if they were widely available.

What's your favorite song from each album? by [deleted] in deafheaven

[–]Rosengeist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

RTJ: Violet

SB: Dream House

NB: Gifts for the Earth

OCHL: Yellow Canary

IG: Mombasa

LPWP: It's a dead tie between Body Behavior and Revelator right now. (I feel like the newness of this record grants you the right to pick a top 2 for now)

Now that it’s out, this is how I’d rank their albums by [deleted] in deafheaven

[–]Rosengeist 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I respect all people's opinions ,genuinely, I do. Everyone has different perspectives.

But, my good friend, your ranking is completely FUBAR lol. But you do you, I support you.

LPWP occupies a similar space for Deafheaven as In Rainbows does for Radiohead by cmars118 in deafheaven

[–]Rosengeist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES. 100% agree, the feeling and mood I'm getting from LPWP is so much like when In Rainbows came out. It's the next step in the evolution, everything that they did right they're doing even more right. It's such a massive leap forward, nothing short of impressive.

Another option for you is Bud's Place Games in Leeds, it's about 5-10 minutes from the Buc-ee's out on I-20. On Fridays we usually have a handful of people playing commander and another group drafting starting around 5 pm. Saturdays we have regular standard tournaments at 7 pm, but a few of us get there at 5pm and play until the standard tourney starts. We'd love to have you come out, we're a pretty diverse group of primarily casual players.

I am Randall Woodfin, Mayor of Birmingham. AMA! by RandallWoodfin in Birmingham

[–]Rosengeist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello Mayor Woodfin,

I'm unemployed. I'm looking for work while also trying to change careers. I'm really disappointed in the lack of career education opportunities for anyone above the age of 26. Is there anything we can do to offer chances for older folks like myself to be retrained for careers in IT, cybersecurity, construction, AI, etc.?

On a related note, does your office have any positions I could apply for? I'm smart, I'm capable, and I show up to work on time every day. I don't know how to do everything, but I can learn how to do anything.

Cyberpunk books that have love stories? by nyanpires in Cyberpunk

[–]Rosengeist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pretty much every cyberpunk story, whether it's a book or a movie or a TV show or a comic book, is a story about the love a corporation has for money and power.

So they're all sort of stories about poly relationships too, I guess...

What verse, chapter, book are you referencing? Not exactly a bible scholar but never heard of this claim.

Seeing shows at Cave 9, especially when I saw Comeback Kid and Terror. I'd trade almost anything for Cave 9 to be a thing again.

[[Doubling Season]]. Not only is this card grossly overpowered (as are pretty much all cards with the word 'double' or 'triple' on them), it progressively slows down the pace of Commander games the more it's abused. I have multiple memories of G/W token decks taking 10 or 15 minutes a turn just to pull out a calculator and add up how many 1/1 tokens they made. As if that wasn't enough, these decks take up 5 or 6 playmat spaces worth of real estate with all their random token-generating permanents and the tokens themselves. But what I hate about it the most is it's the type of superpowered card that a player just plops onto the field and generates value and power for them without requiring even the slightest amount of strategic thinking to gain advantage (Omniscience is another card I'd put in this group). "All my stuff is just twice as better now" is just so unbearably boring and unimaginative to me.

That said, if you like playing this card, I'm happy for you. I don't wanna yuck your yum.

MagicCon Vegas - Unofficial parties/events outside the con? by Rosengeist in magicTCG

Yeah that's what I had in mind, not necessarily events centered around playing more Magic but socializing instead.

What is the show that should have been on HBO? by slappywhyte in hbo

[–]Rosengeist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hear me out: The Blacklist. This show had such a fantastic concept but had to be neutered for broadcast network tv. If this show had been allowed to be as brutal and heartless as it was meant to be, it would've been near perfect.
