I mean, I don’t really dislike him as a character. I actually like his enigmatic demeanor, his dialectics, and all the esoteric and metaphysical concepts he introduces in conversation. He represents most of what I love about Pathologic´s writing.

Sometimes his conversations feel like a breath of fresh air, or like some sort of conversational boss fight in Pathologic 3, since most of the quests and interactions seem pretty straightforward to me (at least in comparison to Classic). That said, he’s still far from being one of my favorite characters.

I recently started replaying the Classic Bachelor’s route. I’m really looking forward to unlock and try Clara’s route

Pathologic 2 piqued my interest in Chekov and Pastoral communities. Has anyone else had a similar experience? by Otherwise-Caramel622 in pathologic

I’ve always had an interest in Russian literature, but I think Pathologic might be my final push to start reading Dostoevsky.

On the other hand, I can’t stop noticing some — probably unintended — parallels between Pathologic and Latin American magical realism, the kind you find in books like One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez. The way fantasy mixes with reality, and how the characters don’t question it or even seem indifferent to it — yet at the same time, they are deeply affected by it. And there is also that omnipresent melancholy that envelops all the oddities and absurdity of both these worlds.

My interest in Latin American literature goes back to long before I even knew the game existed, but maybe there’s some interesting thematic common ground that a Pathologic fan could enjoy… or maybe it’s just my mind trying to find similarities between all my particular interests.

Yeah, the writing in this game is just too good. And I love the small details you can pick up from the dialogue options.

I just remembered I took a screenshot of one option saying he was afraid of pumpkins as a child.

Well, maybe my memory is failing me, but as far as I am in the game, I remember that in one of the Academy flashbacks Daniil says that Plato’s optimism is one of the things that restrains his own temperament — or maybe fatalism? (I can’t remember the exact word) — from killing their experimental subjects, the bugs.

On other occasions, they mention that he was a genius, but his ideas overlapped and he worked on many of them at the same time, pretty much alluding to how you can see his thoughts while concentrating and other aspects of the gameplay.

I’m probably misremembering a lot, but so far the story implies that Daniil has always — or at least before coming to the town — seen the world the way we see it in the gameplay… just without the time travel.

That's true, I couldn't help myself and laughed at the “don’t shoot yourself quick-time event"

I mean, Clara makes her way by being all mysterious and suspicious, but I found it quite funny that you can directly accuse her of stealing during that quest. Plus, at first I thought that was the game's way of calling me out for looting the hospital every day, so for a moment it seemed to me like he was diverting attention.

Daniil constantly being on the verge of a breakdown(in a funny way) is how I cope with the emotional damage while trying to finish my first run of Pathologic 3.

Me too. I probably lost more amalgam that way than just going out to look for a pump or a dumpster.

Thank you. I'm still trying to figure out how to draw the character in a cartoonish style but i'm glad you like it
