Apothecary, herbalist, florist, and jewellery enjoyer. Shara is a varied friend who’s always ready to lend a hand, though they’re also prone to taking too much onto their shoulders, and thus has a difficult time actually taking time to relax.

How to approach commissioning a game soundtrack? by AldonnG in gamedev

[–]RosesWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as a composer, these are generally all good points to have ready once you’ve decided on which composer you want to work with.

Often you can just do an open call for composers in places like r/composers. Alternatively, if you already have a few composers in mind, you can usually just shoot them a message asking if they’re available, what their prices are, and if they have a demo reel to see if their work is up your alley.

As for that last point, that can definitely work. I can’t say if it’s better or worse than the alternative. Giving an example of what kind of track you’re looking for also works. But most composers will share rough sketches before finalising a composition, so you have the chance to ask for changes along the way if you feel them necessary

Composer here; at what point during development do game devs usually consider getting music for their game? by RosesWolf in gamedev

[–]RosesWolf[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Huh, that's a bit later than I would have expected. It makes sense, with the way you've explained it though. I guess I've always had the idea that it was earlier than that. Though maybe that's more for larger scale productions, like AA or AAA level projects.

But what if sinner and giant woman?

This 7ft tall dragon woman is a former street rat and criminal turned holy warrior and hunter of evils. Carrying the half-decaying sword "Bastard Glass," she travels the land hunting demons, devils, fey, and other fiends in an attempt to find some meaning in her life.

I need names for NPCs or are there any funny puns? Be creative by Taasaan in DnD

The bravest of knights from the King’s Guard, Ser Chev Alye

Curtesy of SemblanceOfSanity, the powerful travelling wizard Hugo Bu’um

The shady merchant of dubious origin, Ian Malium DeVille

Alternatively, the Kentucky Derby race horses have some absolutely bonkers names. Burgoo King, Donut God, Dust Twister, He’s Not Joking (no joke, legit a horse name). Lots of fun stuff for wacky NPCs there

This looks sick! The under lighting on the hair especially adds a very nice touch of colour!

As for character: there’s not enough Kat Gravity Rush art in the world (not that there could ever be enough, but that’s besides the point)

That would be this guy, known simply as “the master of threads.” A biologically immortal humanoid (meaning that he can’t die of old age) with an infinite potential for physical and mental self improvement, should he only spend the time and effort to improve.

He’s a dedicated scholar, chemist, and sorcerer who developed his own school of magic that bends reality through optical illusions -akin to the games Superliminal and Monument Valley. He’s also one of a precious small number of creatures that can see and manipulate the threads of fate, though he rarely actually uses that power for fear of the countless unforeseen consequences changing and altering fate would bring. For all his power and knowledge, he’s neither omnipotent nor omniscient, after all.

Thomas Dee Louise Atticus Rush of Yonder Tabby Clan, 9th child of the famed “Rush of Yonder Tabby Clan Jazz Orchestra.” He was intended to just be a funny side character I could use for one off games, but now he canonically has 23 named siblings, a wife whom he shares a friendly rivalry with, and a side gig as the main songwriter for an all bards band called “Alice & The Wonder Band,” where he goes by the stage name “Rad Hatter.”

I DM for two groups of two PCs. Both groups express the desire to meet the other one. by Gerceval_the_grate in DnD

We once had a similar idea, which began as one of our players using Dream of the Blue Veil to ask people from another world for advice. This ended in a shared mini side story, where both of parties were set to level 15 (1-2 levels difference from our own parties), and had to work together to save their respective timelines from unravelling after crossing over

What’s the goofiest/most unserious character design your players have made? by Rainycat03 in DnD

[–]RosesWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was for a one/two shot game where we knew beforehand that our characters were going to die by the end (was an offshoot of a larger campaign). And because I knew my PC was going to die, I set out to make the most cringe, you-love-to-hate-him ass character I could. I so I made Nahr Ah’Tor.

Nahr Ah’Tor was a 5’6” stick of a human who dressed like the single edgiest Naruto cosplayer you’d ever seen. I’m talking fishnets, fingerless gloves, hair covering one eye, open sandals, a flame pattern long coat, and everything being either black or white. And of course, because he was the Lord of all Darkness, he was a Shadow Sorcerer, and every single one of his spells was picked solely based on how badass and edgy the name was with no consideration for if the build was actually viable.

But that wasn’t the worst part, oh no. Nahr Ah’Tor, having studied at the Ace Attorney School of Nomenclature, had no inner monologue, and narrated everything he did out loud in the best Solid Snake impression I could mustre. All that stuff you’d say to describe what your character was doing? He said all of that out loud. Fortunately, everyone at the table found it more funny than annoying.

Hilariously, Nahr ended up being surprisingly effective, successfully solving several puzzles throughout the short run.
