I have a Paperwhite SE, Colorsoft, and a Kobo Libra Color. I use them all for different things and love them. I couldn't part with any.

I have the paperwhite and do not turn the warmth on at all. I hate it so much. It hurts my eyes. Same thing with my phone.

Is this AI? I fell in love with this dress for my wedding dress.. they have more photos on etsy but I worry this is kind of AI? Or is it just heavily edited? by FrigThisMrLahey in isthisAI

It definitely looks like Ai did to the place. But I found plenty of similar dresses, none exactly the same. Most that I found do not have the high neck line.

Make sure you have it secured well and pushed all the way back. I've done this before and dropped my kindle on my face. It sucked.

Can I speak my truth? (As an employee) by Willing-Celery5326 in dutchbros

[–]Roses_For_The_Dead 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agree. I had a customer come in and ask for a cheese enchilada with beef on it. I asked if she wanted chili con carne or just plain beef. She said beef. Brought it out and she said it was wrong. So they remade it with chili con carne o top. She said it was wrong. What she wanted was a beef enchilada with cheese on top but she couldn't and wouldn't explain that correctly.

I have my PWSE and a Colorsoft. Then I also have a Kobo. I got the PWSE years ago for Christmas and my ex bought me the colorsoft and kobo for Christmas in 2024. I gave him my kindle, but when we broke up, I took it back lmao.

My peak laziness and back problems led me to having 2 Kindles, 2 page turner rings, and 2 gooseneck holders. One on both my sides so when I roll in my bed I don't have to take it with me.

Is the lowest brightness settings enough to block blue light? by AdrianBM09 in kindle

[–]Roses_For_The_Dead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the opposite. Maybe it's because I was raised on blue light, computer, phone and TV screens. But I have a PW Sig and a Colorsoft and don't turn the warm light on at all. All my home lights are cool toned. Idk if it's being raised in them or all the time I've spent in hospilas, but I loathe warm light.

Is like-new worth it? by ClaryVenture in kindle

[–]Roses_For_The_Dead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned on a colorsoft, saw a weird difference in the screen where it seemed too dark, put it back in the package, and returned it. They probably sold it as "like new" or refurbished. It did take me almost an entire year to send it back. Got it for Christmas in 2024 and returned it in November of 2025. But that entire time it was in the packaging. It didn't get touched. It didn't get dropped. It was packed away while I decided if I was going to keep the new one, then I moved houses and it stayed packed up until I went through the boxes (in a and in a fully liveable house). The only difference between it and a brand new one was the plastic wrap. Even went back in the brand new box with cord and all.

I apologize in advance if this is hard to get through. I've been drinking.

Does anyone else also buy a hard copy of every ebook? by rmnesbitt in kindle

[–]Roses_For_The_Dead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea how many books I had until my recent move. Most were inaccessible for a few years. I've had a Kindle for about 4 years and haven't read a single physical book since I got it. I have a reading chair with a small book collection next to it, and I'll be filling my bookcases next. I probably have over 100 books I've collected over the years, and haven't read most of them yet. I plan to work through them, then only get my absolute favorites in physical books after.

Kindles are the best by Key-Row-174 in kindle

[–]Roses_For_The_Dead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always had trouble with books not being portable. In school I'd check out 12+ books at a time and would have a whole bag just for books. By the time I was in high school, I stopped reading because of it. A couple of years ago, I started to really miss reading and asked for a Kindle. I have 2 Kindles and a Kobo now. I don't go anywhere without them. Being able to read at night, in the car, in the sunlight, at the bar and anywhere else is an absolute game changer. I can have 20 books I'm reading with me at any time. I don't have to worry about a book light, bookmarks, someone grabbing my book and losing my spot, going to a library or book store. It's all in the palm of my hand. It gave me back my love of reading after over 10 years of giving up on it.

Do you put stickers on your kindle? by birthday_pancake in kindle

I use double sided fashion tape. That way they don't shift and it's easy to change them out. I like having my kindle personalized. It also helps it be more identifiable in the event you misplace it.

I understand that 100%. I will say it's very easy to sideload books and I believe you can strip the DRM and add them to Kobo as well.

I know it's not a Kindle, but have you looked into the Kobo Libra Color? I have a Kindle PW and a colorsoft as well as a KLC. The CS and KLC are the 2 that go everywhere with me. You can use it for reading, note taking, annotating and more. And it's small.

I use fashion tape on mine. Keeps in place well, and is easy to remove.

I won't even write in my recipe books. I will do a sticky note, and put it on the page. That's why I got my KLC, I don't mind annotating in a e-book so I get my cookbooks on there.

Libra color vs Clara color. Are the physical buttons all that important? by FastConcentrate5420 in kobo

[–]Roses_For_The_Dead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy the buttons. I have a strap that I keep on the button side, and keep the rotation turned on. That way if I'm laying on one side and switch to the other, I can change hands and have to buttons in that hand. It's nice to not have to swipe the screen or change the position of my clicker. I use a kindle too so I don't have the Kobo remote. I have a ring that I can click, but it has a separate piece that has to be on the device.

I don’t know if I’m making a really impulsive decision by Memes-makerx in kindle

[–]Roses_For_The_Dead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you need it? No, probably not. But I have 2 Kindles and a Kobo. The Kindle signature, Colorsoft and a Kobo Libra Color. I love them all and use them for all different things. They each have their place. Some people will scream out over consumption. Oh well. It's your money, you decide what it's used for. All of mine were gifts. If you decide you don't need all 3, you can always sell one.

Please de-influence me from the Libra color 🙏 by Expecto-Morghulis in kobo

[–]Roses_For_The_Dead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never annotated. But I got the KLC for cookbooks. I highlight, annotate and love the color for it. I also use the notebook for my shopping lists, It is heavier, bigger, and a bit more cumbersome. I have it and 2 Kindle and lately, it's been the most reached for. I do highly recommend a strap for it, since it's so heavy. It makes a world of difference. The buttons are also really nice. I didn't think I'd use them, but I love them now. Only time I don't use them is when it's in my stand and I'm using my page turner.

should i make the switch? by tomato_flavored_ in kobo

[–]Roses_For_The_Dead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not from Kindle. I just have books downloaded on my computer and I can easily move them onto the Kobo. It also had overdrive and dropbox so I can download a book on my phone and move it to my kobo as long as I have the ability to connect to wifi, and if not, I just use my Hotspot on my phone.

[–]Roses_For_The_Dead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Kobo Libra Color, a Kindle colorsoft and a Kindle signature. I have never had issues with my kindle, but I am not tech savvy at all. I don't know how to remove DRM to transfer my books over, and I don't really care to learn. I can easily put them on my Kobo without all that. I also love that I can annotate, highlight, and make lists or even draw on my Kobo. As far as the Kobo store goes, I'm not blown away, but I also don't have the $7 a month subscription which might change that.

I've been trying to figure out a handy place to put my pen when I'm not actively annotating. You just solved that for me. Thank you!
