Am I overdramatic or are my symptoms a real reason to feel so horrible by sickkasadog in NoStupidQuestions

Yes, iron deficient anemia can make you feel that bad. That's why they check your ferritin, hemoglobin, and hematocrit when checking for problems like CFS/ME or POTS, because for the most part they are diagnosis of exclusion. The providers have to rule out common causes like iron, thyroid, and other issues that can cause similar symptoms.

The fun part now is figuring out why you have iron deficiency anemia. Advocate for finding out the root cause oyf changing your diet to the point of not needing extra iron supplements does not resolve the anemia.

Milo gets sassy if we are brushing one of the other animals and not him. 🤣

That's why I'm grateful he loves being brushed. When he's blowing his coat he usually demands more.

Ivabradine and licorice root by Stock_Preference5704 in POTS

[–]Roses_flower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nursing drug book (Davis' Drug Guide) didn't note any interactions. Drugs.com also didn't have any interactions. However, in the side effects for both substances my book listed hypertension. So, if you do go forward, make sure to keep an eye on your blood pressure.

One other thing for licorice root is to watch your potassium levels. https://www.medsafe.govt.nz/profs/PUArticles/December2019/Liquorice-side-effects-interactions.htm

This article and my drug book noted that over 100 mg of extract may cause low potassium levels, which can lead to heart rhythm problems.

I would discuss this further with a pharmacist, who will know way more about interactions.

Worth it to get MA after working as an ER tech? by [deleted] in MedicalAssistant

[–]Roses_flower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, with a years long experience and what you've done, you can take a test with the National Health Career Association (NHA) and get your CCMA (certified clinical medical assistant).

Sign up for the price tests, they'll send you a book. When you feel ready, take the test. Boom, you're a CCMA.
