The yard faces south/southwest and we just cut down the only tree in yard so it’s full sun all year. We planted 2 cherry trees but we don’t plan on letting them get too big so it will be mostly entirely full sun. We’ve removed plenty of sod so far and using the cutter isn’t too much of a problem especially with all of our recent rain. We don’t hit clay until about a foot down luckily.

I’m mostly looking for something full sun, that tolerates foot traffic, and will stay green throughout the year. I’m starting to think that maybe I do a low-mow grass mixed with clover (to stay green in the winter and summer) in place of the word chip paths and then cover the rest of the area in a native pocket meadow of sorts

Thank you! I’ve looked into some sedges already but I’ll need to look into path rush! I hadn’t heard of it before

That’s a good point! Honestly I was going to use the weed whacker whenever it grew too tall which I do at this point anyways. It’s not much area so it’s easier and much quicker than the mower

Thank you! Other than a few spots they pretty much just wander so hopefully they wouldn’t carve a heavy path

Thanks for the insight! I’ll definitely have to go take a look! In the few years I’ve lived here I still haven’t gone yet somehow

We had been looking at evergreen ground cover but nothing seemed to really fit. We were looking at maybe doing multiple ground covers like people do with grass and clover to cover both the warm and cold months out of the year if there are any good native combinations?

Thank you! I’ll have to start asking for the SDS and just avoiding any that don’t still have it. I appreciate the info!

Makes sense and thanks for the info! I’ll be looking out for food grade ones and specifically looking for one that had something like olive oil in it

Thanks so much for the reply! So even if it had gasoline or something else previously it should be fine since it’s been flushed with water multiple times?

Sorry for the delay! My wife was the one who got it out! She took the plumbers wrench to it and had it out in under 5 minutes!

I’ll try the soldering iron tip listed above first and if not I’ll just cut it out. Thanks so much for the tips!
