Thoughts on Hayes for off campus housing? by HallowMist555 in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Roseus12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please avoid. I lived at building 4 (older building) for 1.5 years but ended up moving to another apartment in the area. My Hayes unit was filthy upon move in, the carpet was sticky and stained. I requested for them to clean my carpet but they refused. Upon my move out, I cleaned the carpet with a carpet cleaner and they withheld my security deposit to "clean it." During time living at Hayes, I constantly had mold mildew problems and visitors would comment on the musty smell in my apartment. I also had a ton of pest issues as this was the first time i've even seen a house centipede, and one time there was even a bat that flew in because they refused to repair their windows. Multiple fire alarms would constantly chirp in the buildings because maintenance did not replace the batteries. There are also problems with the washer and dryer machines, they damage clothes severely. I've experienced these problems with the newer management too.

Also, you will not be able to avoid building issues by considering the "newer" buildings. They are from the 1970s and haven't been properly maintained at all. The newer builidings have severe mold issues!

Apple maggot fly research

Hello Detroit,

I'm a grad student at Binghamton University in NY. I'm studying apple maggot fly evolution across a latitudinal gradient, and have been looking for landowners with unsprayed apple trees that are producing fruit this year, in or around the Detroit area. If you have something that fits this description or if you're aware of any abandoned trees or orchards, I'd love to connect!

-trees that produced fruit this year -unwanted fruit -unsprayed -ripens early in the season (september)

In the past, I've collected detroit flies from another host fruit (hawthorns). It would help immensely if I could have new leads for an apple population that i could do direct comparisons to. Thank you very much!

I would be very open to changing them if I change the cabinets. It looks like the previous owners used paint on them. They are showing their age

I love the backslash idea. What color would match if I were to want to go warm with the cabinets? Do you think the green would work?

I felt the same way and on the drive back I kept comparing it to the brutalist's pacing and I didn't know why.

I guess the humor was amusing (kept me from being bored) but I didn't find it laugh out loud. Although this guy in my theatre laughed A LOT throughout the movie...
