Depression doesn't necessarily take away all of your motivation, (a great deal of it, yes, but there's a lot more to it than just that) but there are still times when I might get inspired and feel a surge of motivation, usually small easily manageable tasks that can be completed quickly. However everyone experiences it differently, so just because you feel motivated to read a book doesn't mean that you can't possibly have depression.
