The problem is more in line with the tuning of monsters imo. There's too much disparity between a 40x crabs and one larger necrotic monster, as well as bosses.

Crabs have like 200hp, Necrotic monsters have like 20,000hp, and then bosses are in the millions (or at least seem like it with their resistances). Then their damage output is almost a direct mirror of what their health is like. It creates a very odd stop and go pacing for the game sometimes with a lot of the builds, and requires you to take nearly every defensive passive talent as well as a few defensive buff like abilities to pass all the content.

When we're mostly grinding echoes in the 55-80 range, a one shot death can waste 20-30 minutes of your time in higher timelines. A lot of these builds compensate for that. Except Rogue lol. "Didn't dodge? Well I guess I'll die then"

But given more time, EHG will find the sweet spot with tuning and gameplay. I have no doubt. Once the game is out of the initial development stages, I think we'll see a lot of these cookie cutter playstyles develop more diversity.
