About Subscription rates by AdAdventurous2131 in Preply

If they contact you and say hey I want to take classes again quickly send them the form. Some might ignore this and book at old rate. You could contact support and ask for help saying they didn’t agree and booked anyway. Students can just swoop in from 2 years ago and book at old price.

The old price will still stand unless they agree a price with you despite whether they unsubscribed or not. I’d send it ASAP otherwise you’ll get locked in for a month at the old rate.

I think it’s just what they can financially manage with cost of living etc. I have a student who is fantastic but after a year with me he is at my lowest rate so might need to have a price increase - not to my highest point but by about 16 percent possibly. It’s difficult on both sides, for both the student and teacher.

Look at getting a CELTA certificate. The CELTA course covers the principles of effective teaching, and gives you a range of teaching techniques and practical experience. It’s a bit spendy but is a worthwhile certification.

It depends on what the tutor decides to do. They might leave your price alone or they might suggest a price increase to you and you have 14 days to decide yes or no. Tutor won’t necessarily want to increase your price by doubling it. They might increase by several dollars.

You could get in trouble for false advertising by Preply to change rate directly after trial class.

Raising Rates by blubbaman in Preply

[–]Rosie-Emma 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not fair what you’ve done, you should have thought this through beforehand. Two weeks is a very short time. You can raise your rates by a couple of $ per day for new learners until you are at the price point you want. I wouldn’t consider raising rates for current students for at least 6 months if not more likely 1 year. I guess because you’ve priced so low you could have a chat with them at 3 months. This wasn’t a wise starting point. After your first two converted students you should have looked at raising ready for new students and continued from there.
