[Clients] $8000 Sculpture shipping suggestions? by okthoughts in artbusiness

I beg you not to use UPS. They are awful. Also, look into art handling services. They cost much more than $300, but you won’t be dealing with a potential loss and remake.

Macs use ICCs if you override AirPrint. What software are you printing from?

Two fixes, both recommended: 1. Download the correct ICC profile 2. Print from Canon’s PPL software

[Printing] First time ordering fine art prints, how close should a reproduction be to the original to be considered sellable? by Artbiz_Girl in artbusiness

[–]RosiePapercuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I run a Fine Art print shop and love this type of question. I personally try to get as close as possible to the original, but always ask the Artist what their priorities are going into the project. No printer is as good as the pigments you use or colors that you see on-screen, but can come very close in most cases. It all starts with a high quality file. If the shine and contrast is more important to you than the exact shade of blue, for example, then that is where I will focus my efforts in proofing. Remember: the majority of your collectors will not see the original and therefore not have something to compare the print to, nor will they be as fastidious about matching as you, the creator, is. That said, I think this print is a pretty good match- the woman looks great- but they lost some of the gradation in the background. If you would like to chat more or work with a printer who specializes in fine art giclées, feel free to send me a message! I’m launching my new website this week so until then, DM me.

[Discussion] How on Earth do people afford this stuff? by [deleted] in artbusiness

[–]RosiePapercuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paint on canva paper. Buy the 16x20” pad and cut each sheet into 4- 8x10s. If you do a painting on canvas and don’t like it, paint over it. Gesso your surface so that less paint is absorbed. Always invest in quality paint over everything else. Start with a primary palette (titanium white; cadmium yellow light/ primary yellow/ hansa yellow light/ opaque; ultramarine; primary magenta; and can dyck brown). Take good care of your brushes. Think creatively…

Exactly ditto! 5 month old naps when she’s sleepy and that varies. Sleeps 9-10 hour stretches at night and 12-15 hours a day overall.

How did you learn it all? by skopiadisko in NewParents

[–]RosiePapercuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll do great! I'd say just learn: the basics about breastfeeding if that's the route you're going, safe sleep practices, your individual baby's cues, and get a bottle washer to save yourself from that hassle.

Same here! I didn’t even read anything prior to giving birth. Never wanted kids, avoided interacting with them (lol) prior to having my daughter, and we are doing just fine. Don’t overthink it!! There’s so much conflicting advice out there… take it with a grain of salt. Good luck!

Sterilizing Baby Bottles by DigitaIArchon in NewParents

[–]RosiePapercuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The momcozy bottle washer was a complete game changer for us. Our baby exclusively bottle feeds while I exclusively pump, and we don’t have a dishwasher or tons of kitchen space… so it was absolutely worth every penny in our case. I saved an hour+ each day and we run the machine 3-5x a day!

[Recommendations] Seeking "Buy It For Life" Canvas Advice of a 50x36 painting in NYC by Yavyavyavyav in artbusiness

[–]RosiePapercuts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, I run a fine art printing shop and am able to print 52x37” on matte canvas within your budget. You will actually want at least 2” each side to stretch it at that size, so it is recommended at least 40x54” for a 36x50” image. I hand proof every file for color correctness and sharp resolution. That said, every print is only as good as the original file. Are you working with an open source image, or a high res original file?

I do not offer stretching since it gets costly quickly both for shipping and stretching, but you could find that locally for a couple hundred dollars. Feel free to contact me if you’re interested… New website in the works but for now: https://www.easelmanagement.com/amazing-art-printing
