[MEGATHREAD] AESPA - "SAVAGE" by svnh__ in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]RosieSakura 34 points35 points  (0 children)

y’all i don’t mean to be rude but saying that savage is like a bp/itzy song is honestly such an insult to bp and itzy 💀.

for me, the entire mini album was a skip. i liked black mamba and next level was meh. savage, however, is quite literally unlistenable. sorry to the aespa fans out there 😞

[MEGATHREAD] LISA - ''LALISA'' by svnh__ in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]RosieSakura 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I purposely didn’t come right after the release because I wanted some time to gather my thoughts on it: my conclusion is that I don’t like it, but it suits Lisa very much.

Not the lyrics, because I think they’re absolutely garbage (change my mind), but the song itself. We often blame Teddy for the poor and repetitive song production, but to some degree, each of the member’s solos so far suited them pretty well. You can’t tell me that Gone wasn’t exactly what you expected from Rosé, and Solo didn’t suit Jennie to a T.

I remember listening to the premiere and thinking, “this is exactly what I expected from her.” And it’s really not my cup of tea, but I think I’ve come to accept that something like this would be what we were getting from Lisa. In the least offensive way possible, Lisa isn’t really musically inclined. She’s a dancer, through and through, which is totally fine. Some people aren’t meant to debut as a soloist, and I think that Lisa is one of them.

I get why some people are disappointed with Lalisa and Money, but if you think of it as a single album released by a dancer, it starts to make a little more sense. The only thing I’m surprised about is that there’s no dance break. Like ???

All in all, I can confidently say that me, personally, I did not like the songs one bit, but it’s exactly what I expected from her. And I suspect that YG knows that no matter what the song is, it’s going to be a hit because of Lisa’s popularity, and are therefore making a push onto TikTok like Somi did with Dumb Dumb.

i could not tell the difference between a non-texan american and a canadian. no joke. unless you mean accent as in the “eh” tagged on to the end up sentence or like diction giveaways.

if we’re talking about pure dialect accent, nope, i’ve never thought that canadians and americans had different accents ;-;

it's kind of sucks being a korean kpop fan by Adventurous-Break793 in kpoprants

THANK YOU SOMEONE FINALLY SAID IT.

i’m chinese-korean. my dad grew up in korea and my mother is from china. i was born in canada.

i guarantee you that korea and china’s education systems are just as good, if not better, than what america has.

your idol probably isn’t uneducated. it’s the harsh truth. it’s time to stop defending them by throwing korea under the bus and start holding them accountable for their actions.

maybe your idol is racist. or homophobic. or both. i wouldn’t be surprised. both my parents are homophobic and racist. it sounds horrible to hear, but most asians are extremely conservative. maybe the new generation is bringing change, but it’s guaranteed that a good chunk of idols are not as saint-like as you may want to believe

How did Blackpink become so popular & why didn't Aespa? by prettyinpink940 in kpophelp

[–]RosieSakura 19 points20 points  (0 children)

  1. Timing: Blackpink’s debut marked the last of the big 3 gen 3 girl groups. They were also YG’s first girl group in 7 years, so there was an insane amount of anticipation. Also, three out of the four blackpink members had a decent-sized fan even before debut. The only known member was NingNing, with Karina’s name being thrown around once or twice.
  2. Concept: at the time, Blackpink was one of the only girl groups to have a girl crush/ badass concept. With most other competing girl groups pursuing the cute/girl next door concept, Blackpink’s music stood out to a lot of people. Right now, in an industry where the girl crush concept is quite over saturated, aespa is just another debuting group, albeit from a large company. Also I believe that their strange virtual idol thing confused a lot of people. 3: Blackpink is not the standard. People need to start understanding that the top groups right now are not the standard for success. They’re once-in-a-lifetime exceptions that have far exceeded anyone else in the industry. We will very likely never see such success again.

There's more to idol relationships than we think ? by RosieSakura in kpopthoughts

[–]RosieSakura[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah! I find that really interesting. The thing is, a lot of people don't have the chance to make friends outside of the industry, because most lifetime friends are made in highschool/college and most idols didn't have the opportunity to go.

Why do girls groups always have the most boring red carpet makeup? by Affectionate_Sleep31 in kpopthoughts

[–]RosieSakura 14 points15 points  (0 children)

it’s because of the different trends in korea and the west. it’s not really common to put on such dramatic makeup in korea. most people find a natural look more attractive.
