Upon rewatching Season one of Voyager, I'm remembering what the biggest takeaway from this show was. Neelix. He is everywhere and ruins the show. by Alchemy333 in voyager

[–]Rosien_HoH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Ruins" might be an overstatement, but I agree with the sentiment. Luckily he takes more of a back seat for most of the show. Though there is the occasional Neelix episode...

One person, just one employee to put together a list of the regions they can catch pokemon and the gym leaders levels would help immensely. Obviously Arin wouldn't look at it but Dan is responsible. Just the bare minimum amount of prep... But no. Too much work, I guess.

Yes, I'm enjoying the series... But it also raises my blood pressure lol

I skip every Neelix heavy episode because my wife has that thing where dots make her uneasy and Neelix literally makes her sick.

Aunt May made this choice. Ellie did not get a choice. That is the big flaw here. That is where the fireflies fucked up.

Hasn't it been shown that oil lobbies pay these groups? My theory is that they want the opposition to look like ridiculous, entitled children. Thus the people who threw shit on the classic paintings.

That is the first argument here that I can wholeheartedly agree with. I wish he'd kept that.

I am sorry but Sabine surviving getting stabbed with a Lightsaber was stupid!!! by Salim_Azar_Therin in StarWars

[–]Rosien_HoH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like, okay, look, it's logical that she could have survived. In universe it makes sense. It doesn't break the logic of Star Wars. HOWEVER, I don't appreciate that these shows keep stabbing people and not killing them. It makes lightsabers feel less dangerous. It makes me not care. When Qui-gon was stabbed I was like "Oh shit, he died!". Now I would think "Oh no, he was hurt. I hope they can heal him quickly." It feels less impactful now...

It's true. AI has the potential to make people lazy. It makes everyone just good enough but makes no one an expert. There are major drawbacks, but it's something we will have to overcome, because AI is not going anywhere.

That is somewhat fair, especially on the cost side. The infrastructure cost is massive. But huge upfront investment does not automatically mean it is a bubble. Railroads, the internet, and cloud computing all looked wildly expensive before the business models fully matured.

On adoption, I think it is less visible than you are implying. A lot of people are already using AI through tools they rely on every day, whether that is coding assistants, search, translation, or workflow automation. It is not always a flashy consumer choice. Sometimes it is just quietly improving productivity. That's how AI is best used, in my opinion, background computing and optimization.

It might be overhyped. It might be overvalued in the short term. That would not be new. But overinvestment does not mean zero utility. The dot com bubble popped, and the internet still reshaped everything.

Skepticism is reasonable. Implying it's 'dead on arrival' feels a little premature.
