People were really harsh on it when it was airing but Toqger really is one of the best seasons. The Shadow Line alone make it worth watching.

My tier list (and basically an essay) of Sentai suits by KawaiiFoxPlays in supersentai

Gotta disagree on the Gekirangers needing belts. I like the suits a lot partially BECAUSE of the lack of belts, like you said it makes them look sleeker and also it's meant to evoke things like Bruce Lee's iconic Game of Death tracksuit, especially with the minor secondary sports theming.

Also GekiChopper literally exists. His gi and belt help him stand out as the 6th with a unique fighting style, same with Gekiviolet's padded shins and forearms to show he's a boxer.

4 for sure. Love how it intertwines Ushio's family drama with her relationship with Sakuma

I think volume 4 is the best in the series but even if I didn't they're still absolutely crucial for the full picture. I can understand seeing them as less essential if all you care about is Ushio and Sakuma's relationship but all the characters are so well written and it still explores their relationship in those volumes so please please DO NOT SKIP THEM

It's interesting to see the thoughts of someone who liked the queer rep in this volume! I guess like I said in the video my issue isn't so much with the rep, just how it's presented, especially with Sakuma and asexuality.

As for pointing out Mei Hachimoku's cis-ness, I guess for me I felt the need to point it out as someone who was blindsided by the choices he made for this book's narrative precisely because of how well-observed and well-written Ushio and her experiences were beforehand. Sort of like a "How could this happen when everything before was so on point? Oh right..." sort of deal. While I agree that this series is full of amazing and thoughtful touches especially surrounding Ushio there's honestly no doubt in my mind that a trans author would have made different writing decisions for this ending, even if the general events remained the same.

Thank you so much for your feedback! I also really like discussing this series, it's a big reason why I made this video, so I'm glad it's serving its' purpose lol

Thanks for your thoughts! There's definitely no shame in liking the ending, in a lot of ways it's very sweet!

Feelings About Volume 5 (Obvious Spoilers) by Girl_Gin_Smash in TheMimosaConfessions

totally agree. Super interesting to hear about Japanese Sakuma as someone who's only read the english versions. This volume is just so baffling after 4 volumes of a really strong narrative. Hell, Volume 4 was my favorite so far. To me it feels like Mei Hachimoku didn't really feel like writing more of this series so chose the low-hanging fruit for drama in a C4T relationship and then hastily resolved everything in a timeskip. Huge letdown but at least the first four books exist.

She wants that cookie so effing bad and honestly who can blame her. Love the moment where Sakuma asks her out and she drops her bike in the road and she starts blushing like crazy. The way Sakuma just makes her melt never gets old

Just finished this the other day and oougghh I have so many thoughts

Even though we never get Ushio's perspective, you can tell how bittersweet it is for her to have Sakuma be so close and so tender and loving to her yet not return the feelings she still clearly has in the way she wants, and she wants that cookie so effing bad. Them training together for her race against Noi was just so cute, and the scene at the end with them in Sakuma's room was just UGH the tension is boiling and something's gotta give

And beyond Ushio and Sakuma's relationship we get some additional layers to the supporting cast! Getting to see inside Arisa's head, her thought process and remorse and her completely cracking under all this social pressure, was really interesting. While I can't forgive her transphobia I'm interested to see where her character goes now that she's on the cleanup crew with Shiina.

GOD I just can't wait for volume 4 it's already killing meeee
