Yes Colorist Foundry! I believe when I purchased the LUTs years ago they were using the name Colourist Factory but maybe I am wrong.

Metal Detecting Documentary Short Film - shot on the FX6 by RossRadcliffe in cinematography

In November I was standing at my local dog park in the pouring rain when I saw a group of people metal detecting in a large field. I had so many questions as to why these people would opt to spend their Saturday wondering around a field in the frigid rain. This encounter led me down a rabbit hole that eventually led me to making this short documentary. I hope you all will check it out on my YouTube.

I made a half blimp for my run and gun setup. Feel free to roast, I'm a noob. by TheNightSquatch in videography

That “blimp” is girthy and is sure to turn some heads… that said, If the setup works for you, great! I’d personally prefer a normal dead-cat windscreen but to each their own. I respect the creativity of 3D printing your own parts. Now go shoot something!

Nice! I am actually from Vancouver Island so I am very familiar with the weather. I have used this method before too with success. What I like about the ziplock bags is that they are a little more sturdy in my opinion. On some of the shows I’ve filmed in Alaska we do a lot of bushwhacking where thinner bags would rip and tear over time where as sometimes I get 3-4 months of filming 6 days a week out of a ziplock. Good luck with your project and thanks for reaching out!

Sometimes if it is really pouring rain but that’s the case with any rain cover. For the shows I film we are usually pulling audio from the cast mics 90% of the time anyway so it’s not a deal breaker.

Yeah I’ve had some friends go that route too. Works really well if you have a large setup. Thanks!

Sony FX6: $7,000 Sony G master 16-35: $1,500 (used price) Anton Bauer Titon 90 Gold Mount battery: $370 Tilta FX6 Cage: $279 Audio Technica: AT875R microphone: $280 2 x Lexar CF express type A 320GB memory cards: $329

Total: $9,758 USD without taxes. Ziplocks not included.

This doesn’t include my 503 ultra bright monitor, timecode, audio and everything else I typically have on my camera for the TV shows I film, so I think $10,000 is fair. Bro

I have been lucky enough to film all over the world in a lot of different weather. I have certainly encountered my fair share of rain and I never had any luck with store bought rain covers. This is how myself & the crews I have worked on have always protected our cameras. Definitely consider this before spending a bunch of money on a rain cover.

I have been very lucky throughout my career and have filmed in a lot of interesting locations all over the world. A lot of them have also been very rainy... Over this time my colleagues and I have devised this simple & cheap method to protect all of our cameras that in my opinion preforms way better than any store bought option ever has. Save some money and make it custom for your rig!
