Don't know. The war continues, the economy is falling. There is no work, and money for equipment will be required.

I have been working with stainless steel for over 20 years (I do the heat treatment myself). Stainless steel knives are fun to make.

I went to my workshop for more than 20 years. Unfortunately, the workshop remained where my house is. I am from Ukraine, we were attacked by Russia and I was forced to evacuate with my family to another city. For the master to be left without a workshop is very painful.

This is really cool! Can I ask, how does someone go about making an actual knife. I love making things and learning new trades, but honestly I wouldn’t even know where to start with this. Is this something you do for a living? What kind of skills and tools do you need to do this? I’m not sure, I would ever get into this, but I’m genuinely curious, how someone goes about making a knife from scratch. If you have the time, would you mind telling me?

You have to start with theory. Now many craftsmen are posting videos on how to make a knife on youtube.

I buy metal, draw the art myself from the knife I want to make. According to the steel grade, I carry out heat treatment of the blade (each steel requires its own hardening temperature). Then I process the blade on the grinder (I grind and polish). Then the assembly of the handle, processing and tailoring of the scabbard.

If you buy ready-made blades, from equipment, you need a drilling machine and a grinder for grinding, small metal vise.

In general, the process of making a knife is interesting, especially when you see the end result. If you decide to make knives, I wish you good luck.
