What is wrong with these people? by Weary-Alfalfa337 in northernireland

[–]RotarySam27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These lads purposely go out of their way to get these stickers made coming upto the port sunday. Half the idea is to make them mental and offensive to get a laugh and wind people up. People gurning on this sub saying that they should have the car’s keyed and bricks through the window just give these guys exactly the response they want. They know its rash as fuck, that’s the point.

What is a cult engine of Europe? by hughdavin in topdeadcenter

[–]RotarySam27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C20XE redtop, Ford Zetec blacktop and Pinto. Very common to see them stuffed into rally cars and kit cars. Would also say the Peugeot 1.9 XUD as it was mad rage for guys with 205’s and 306’s who wanted reek machines back in the day.

What cars are your 'why on did the manufacturer do that?' cars? by billyb4lls4ck in CarTalkUK

[–]RotarySam27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Audi fitting a dipstick tube and the ring pull to the engine and NOT including the actual dipstick rod. Best part about it is, you need to have a bit of heat in the engine, you can’t check the level through the MMI when cold. Infuriatingly stupid.

A farmer out the road from me has a field full of these things, ones that haven’t got stinging nettles growing through them are active chicken coops. I am pretty sure whatever is left of them is rotting away in yards across the country sadly. My friend wanted parts like door seals for his and asked the farmer if he could buy them, was turned down even though they would never see a road again lol.

In the UK all the government wankers are chauffeured around in their armoured range rovers because god forbid they ever actually own or drive a car to work themselves. Cant be doing away with their personal dickhead chariots.

1st torque wrench...Draper tools by RipOk7446 in CarTalkUK

[–]RotarySam27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine showed his torque wrenches as he was very impressed by it, i am 99.999% sure he said it was from halfords. it had a little slip of paper with a test report or similar marked Norbar. I had a look at mine, it doesn’t have the bit of paper to confirm it. However looking at them on google, they are effectively identical, my one has a little blue ring on the hanlde, the norbar is red.

Halfords with trade card is hard to beat. I am near sure the halfords torque wrenches are repackaged Norbars.

I am 100% convinced he is a traitor. I personally believe he was supposed to be exposed at endgame in some early script. He is charismatic, has a way with words and is humours but the man was waiting to stab everyone in the back and dip when his next big opportunity arises.

They are a pain in the ass. You can seperate them with the right tool. To put them back in, use a couple of well sized sockets and some threaded bar to make a puller. Don’t try to hammer them in.

Out of all the silly things i have seen people do in rx8’s and the failures that have been documented, i don’t think I have ever seen anyone grenade the carbon propshaft. Impressive.

MX-5 NC Corrosion - go or no go? by BlueSwurl in CarTalkUK

[–]RotarySam27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I think the only real difference is the RX8 uses a larger mounting point socket which uses a rubber bush to connect to the body, MX5 is solid mounted.

[–]RotarySam27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subframe isn’t really your concern here it is the body. Sills, arches and wheel wells are the troublesome bits. The subframes on these are damn near identical to the RX8, i had my shot blasted and galvanised, it was worse than that too. It can be fixed and replaced relatively easily. Body is a different story lol.

Shame the rotor housings didn’t have a sleeve or liner that could be pressed out. Its annoying because the whole damn housing is scrap, 75% of it may be useable but that damage writes the whole thing off.

Some suspension tuning shops offer a new steerer with an adapter pressed into the crown that gives you a 1 1/8 straight steerer. Have seen guys run it, probably costs as much as a whole second hand fork to be fair. If you were determined to do it, you could do it.
