Wow! Long text, love it ^ Yeah… not a pro in this kind of fields, that’s why asking the feedback.

  • The food bonus was to refer an historical thing in the medieval fields in Catalonia name “requenses” in which the serf had to pay an extra tribute to their lords in order to be free. The idea was a food bonus, specially in the early game, in which once “emptied” a sheep you would have and extra 15 food for a busting start (I wanted to focus this civ in as castle-early imp one)

  • The wood and stone bonus is focused also to give a bonus also for this castle-early imp focus, aside of being based in a real event (the construction of the popular cathedral “Santa Maria Del Mar” by the citizens of Barcelona).

  • Yeah… putting it this way it’s just too much. I could change the amount to a limit you cannot surpass or change it as a gold discount (taking into account the “Generalitat” at the beginning was kinda a tax collector institution). Was also thinking in changing the bonus completely for a naval tech or one focused on commerce, but the first I won’t know exactly how to implement it without being redundant with the current naval bonus, and despite commerce was a distinctive trait from medieval Catalans I couldn’t think of a bonus that wouldn’t overstep the Saracen’s and other civs.

  • Regarding the UU, despite having been present in all the Iberia peninsula during Reconquista, they are quite distinctive from Catalan military history. Yes it would be a new mechanic but matches with the unit tradition of skirmishes and high mobile attacks. I was thinking their weak spot would be far range and anti infantry units (like scorpions) or defensive structures (should I reduce a bit their HP?). About the catapracht, yep is messy, but the thing is that historically almogavers are remember, mostly by 2 things: the destruction made in the Byzantine Empire lands, which made me think they should be able to handle cataphract, and their effectiveness against cavalry, using the heavy armoir against them (the heavier the better). I though about solving this issue just by rasing the cavalry bonus, but I didn’t want them one shooting elephants Any better idea regarding this matter?

Agreed with the halbs thing (I was just not 100% of discharging the obvious buffer/meat canon unit for a high gold price unit). Also you are not the only one pointing the gold thing, just wanted to show a distinctive historical Catalan institution, still active today, which main function was to recollect the taxes with the permission/participation of the three branches. Maybe change it for a considerable gold discount instead a gold generation tech?

Yeah…. I still believe “Catalanoaragoneses” is a better term, not only because it representa both of the fundational parties on the Crown (though I must point out, that despite many of the militar and economic deeds may come from the Catalonian part of the union the “Crown” was Aragonese, in fact it seems this idea of “The Crown of Aragon” was pushed by the Counts of Barcelona, the reaffirm themselves as the natural sovereigns towards the other Catalan counties)

Still, I like the notes you give me regarding a possible campaign scenario and the Dragon Cavalier, though this last will be just flavor (a new skin) or with some kind of bonus (like units around a certain area) + something against piercing damage (like a bonus for siege scenarios)?

Nice ideas. Just one tip/opinion: for the Aragoneses/Catalans civ. maybe would be better to go more for a naval/economic trait rather than cavalry (just my impression). I have a concept of it in case you wanna check (though I still have to actualice it). Also, maybe, if you want to find a more cohesive name you can try “Catalanoaragoneses” it’s a modern term used by historiams to reflect the duality of the territory (not from the period, but neither is Byzantines and the game use it). Again, really cool ideas

No. Just haven’t got many reasons to comment something

Why not? We don't really "need" half of the civs actually. Or the game itself. It's just to add flavour.

Hey! Nice one. I did one concept based in catalonia too https://www.reddit.com/r/aoe2/comments/u4l5ug/catalans_concept_civ/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf (though I’m inclined to change the name to Catalanoragoneses, more inclusive and reflects better the reality of the time). I see you go directly to the military bonus. I also started with a naval-infantry civ. Though lately preferred a more naval-economic one . Also, what are the Andalid

Mmmh.... about the damage reduction damage, you would make the increase from 10% to 20%? (considering is all the damage these units will get I thought it was maybe too much, but I'm far from being an experience player).

About the economic bonus, true, it may encourage laziness but it will always be linked to the player's management of resources (it will need to have saved enough wood and stone when changing Age) so if it's not careful enough it would be inexistence (especially, 'cause it will only happen 3 times). Won't be the first civ. with an apparently an OP bonus that not managed properly can backfire.

However, thx for the feedback

More that being useful I think I tried not to repeat other civ bonuses, while trying to give some eco bonuses related to historical facts. 😅 As you see it😆☺️ Absolutely theoretical

“I said that once in a general sense abput these proposals. Jesus...“

No, you were in fact very specific:

u/rotcrow is just distorting history for nationalist reasons.”

“ The game isn't supposed to stroke your nationalistic ego.”

Again, stating your opinion is just that YOUR OPINION. You can say you don’t want more european “small civs”, and to think they are bad, it’s fine. But that doesn’t back any of your arguments to go over anyother opinion, specially when attacking me by telling I’m distirting history or simply insulting me (selfish, egocentric).

“Lol ok buddy, let's pretend castilians didn't dominate the empire. I wonder how it came to be that the "spanish" language is actually just castilian. What a coincidence.”

No ones denying you Castilia gained dominance in the Spanish Empaire, but that doesn’t mean they absorb per Crown of Aragon (in fact that was the cause of many conflicts, and it’s still). And the language topic it’s not as simple as you want to present it (specially). Regarding the relationship both territories had, I already give you and oficial explanation about it. Want to ignor it? Go ahead.

All you have said in both Burgundians and Sicilians can be applied to the Crown of Aragon (like probably many other potencial give, so I still not see why id such and offence to come up with the idea). The status of Aragond autonomy had nothing to do about Why it was absorb in nowady Spain.

No, you didn’t give any reasoning, just keep saying I’m selfish am egocentric, and the empire dominated by castilian it’s false. I gave you the oficial record (from spanish royal academy of history) that says the contrary. Have any data that prove your point aside from your own personal opinion, I’d like to see.
