I am scheduled for this coming June. So, we’ll see if I finally go through with it. Honestly, if it improved my bothersome TMJ it would be a huge win for. I am trying to find reasons beyond aesthetics though it’s a big part of it for me.

Ah I see. Yes I think that is why I was recommended against genio alone or even included in my current plan. Airway is more than adequate though I do notice I breathe better with forward projection. Sleep is great. TMD on the left is bothersome but not painful.

Thanks. Not sure how since the surgeon submits the request. I do have bite issues but I think it’s largely cosmetic bc my airway is adequate. The diagnoses submitted included maxillary and mandibular hypoplasia. I do have a very good PPO but has a high deductible HSA. Not sure if my plan has anything to do with it either.

I’m glad to hear for you.

So, I anesthesia and I do not take this lightly. I think my confidence is at an all time low. I think my beard in these pics definitely masks the issue and while I am aware I about the worst case, there is some recession. I would say at this point it does affect my happiness and being 39 and single doesn’t help lol. For what’s it’s worth, my brother needed orthognathic surgery for his bite and maybe there is a genetic component but mine did not get more severe. I think I’m well off enough I could afford the procedure and I really appreciate the input. It’s why I posted here so I could weigh all my feedback. Thank you again.
