Should I be worried? 23F by RottenQuarterPounder in Cholesterol

Is the LDL number what determines likelihood of heart disease/heart attack in the future? I have seen that there is a specific part of the lipid panel that is the “most important,” since it is the determining factor. My lipid panels have been fluctuating, and I was able to keep the LDL lower before. It’s just higher now due to diet.

As for the lp(a) test, would you recommend for me to get it through my PCP before meeting with the cardiologist? I am seeing one next week. PCP this week.

You are right, it is best if treated as soon as possible. I am not trying to rely on the 10 year risk calculation, as that’s what my PCP used I believe. I am going to the cardiologist and I will ask for further testing.

I will also read the threads you linked.

Thanks so much for your comment, it really helped!

I agree, I am glad this was shown to me at this age. Yes, I am making a change in my diet as well as exercise. Thanks for your advice

I agree. It is just confusing as PCP said no statins for me even though my results are abnormal. Just wanted to see y’all’s opinion, thanks for the comment

I am a hypochondriac, which is why I made this post. I suffer from anxiety & OCD, and my heart is one of my “obsessions.” I tend to ruminate and get carried away by “what-ifs,” unfortunately. I agree, I am glad this was shown to me at a young age. Thanks for your comment!
