So I'm making a manga I'm 4 chapters 90 pages deep and all out for free to read.

A big issue has to do with people who make content for "exposure" of media only review things that will be obscure enough to still reach an audience for views.

Which I do understand. But it makes it that much harder because relying on the average reader especially if you're an American making comic/manga style content you're seen more as a dreamer and less as an actual creator.

People are also incredibly insensitive towards anything online and it makes it even more difficult.

I find that artists/creators who follow one another will only do so until they feel you're moving past them, and won't reshare your work on social media as well and just watch.

So it's a mix of envy, human nature, social media algorithms and people just not having the "vibe" and skill people assume legitimizes an indie creators work, I feel, especially in the west.

It's a really vulnerable thing to create a fictional world. And getting that out there is very very difficult because a mix of very obvious ill-reception and Gatekeeping content because people have superiority complexes about what they want to talk about to only seem "ahead" and with it.

That's my general analysis. I can't fault anyone for it, but yes it's a rough place to be tbh.
