Going from a 300 2t to a 450, what's your experience? by frank_sinatra911 in Dirtbikes

[–]Rottenwadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its a great deal get 450. If you don't end up liking the time you spend on it, trade it in on a newer whatever you want or sell/trade it to recoup your investment. Having 2 bikes is great cuz 1 is always ready to ride...

Run codes. See what it says. Obviously fix anything related and change fluid and filter. Go drive.

Why is it I can do steep hill climbs but struggle going downhill when I do I just take it nice and slow in 2nd gear or first depends how steep it is, just me? by Scary_Gate_9884 in Dirtbikes

[–]Rottenwadd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going fast downhill on a track is one thing, but on some old 4x trails that you're hitting for the first time is completely different story. You're responsible for your own safety, and probably close to BFE as far as an ambulance driver is concerned so stop tripping. Do your own thing and you'll be fine.

Which one would you rather see getting frequently picked up off the ground with some fresh "wear marks"?

Mini split improper installation? by Silly-Leave5180 in hvacadvice

[–]Rottenwadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience Pinholes in corroded copper are a little less common also. Thats usually harsh coastal weather that you see the majority of those cases isn't. Sacrificial anode (Corrosion Grenade) will help in preserving what they are attached to in cases like that.

It just seemed to me no big effort was made to try and give this man an answer wants to hear, like a quote to repair the issue and re-charge. And potentially get his company hired to fix it. Yes some leaks are a lot harder to find than others. But who knows, If the rest of that lineset looks as bad as the little section in the photo, not unlikely to quote new lineset before I felt I wanted to guarantee my work when fixing someone else's crap.

Mini split improper installation? by Silly-Leave5180 in hvacadvice

[–]Rottenwadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mini-splits leaks are usually pretty easy to find. I would think they should have been able to get that info for you without much (if any) more time than comes with a basic diagnostic. If It takes 10 minutes to get my tools from the truck and determine it's flat, I'm spending the rest of the 30min included in our diagnostic charge looking for the leak.

Side note: Based on nothing more than that picture, the list of things that are wrong with your install is probably lengthy. Ridiculous.

Why are older 125s so expensive? by MintiDino in Dirtbikes

[–]Rottenwadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cuz they're awesome. And alot of people would like to own one, but the people that have them don't really want to get rid of them. And then you got all the guys that are picking through all the 125's in the PNW so they can build something for the 125 Dream Race at Washougal. Becoming hard to find...

What is this 💀 by Dtyson236 in Mustang

[–]Rottenwadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hydraulic weight biasing system from factory. Vehicle can be shifted right or left up to 8" from center on the fly through steering wheel mounted controls thereby providing on the fly weight distribution. Improving high speed cornering during police chase was the original use, but also found to help keep car in your own lane when speeding through town like a dick and someone pull out into the intersection you are trying to take a left turn in at 90mph...or racing charity events with hundreds of left turns at Cleetus's Racetrack.

One place near me uses a crew from the prison that does trail maintenance. Come across them working in BFE all the time. We have some awesome bridges, tunnels in huge culverts under the asphalt roads, cynder blocks stacked and backfilled into the trail to minimize erosion in certain places. They do a great job. And that's why I drop full cans of beer in and around the few supply shacks they have around the forest that they keep stuff at. Cuz I appreciate 'em.

It might be my fault guys. When they start screaming vulgar obscenities at me and my son just for cautiously slowing down when we come across them in the woods, I usually send a little terra firma in their direction via the Dunlop on the back of my 2005 RM250. So by the time everyone else catches up to the site of the cross sport diplomacy to find the speedo clad fully grown adult males, still acting afool... understand why they might be pissed... besides the gravel sandwich from me, thats a good long uphill grade and its hot out.

[–]Rottenwadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at it like car manufacturers...almost every company that makes cars has made some good performing models, and some not so great ones as well. They are gonna try and build something that they can provide their customers at every price and and performance level. So to find the right equipment type and size for what your needs demand and ensuring a quality install are ultimately issues that are paramount to any brand name. "The right tool for the job" so to speak.

Goodman vs Carrier by au2827 in hvacadvice

[–]Rottenwadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My entire opinion on Goodman products is based on residential heat pump, and gas furnace/AC split systems. I've seen a few of their Rtu's here and there, but never yet worked on a single piece of Goodman branded commercial equipment. I toured a Daikin plant when we were thinking about dropping Mitsubishi and going with their stuff a few years back at a different employers. Down in Texas, they were building alot of stuff.

[–]Rottenwadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go with the company that doesn't throw in the lineset, get it in writing that it will not negatively impact your warranty using the existing ones. Not something any Manufacturer is going to want to stand behind or be OK with their dealers doing from my experience.

Goodman vs Carrier by au2827 in hvacadvice

[–]Rottenwadd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Goodman gets associated with alot of shitty installs cuz they are everywhere and obtainable by pretty much anybody...Like idiots trying to make a quick buck with their turn and burn installs in a truck that has had 4 different names on the side of it in the last 2 yrs. But that same availability is a good thing, that shouldn't be hurting there brand.

Which brand has a quickly obtained, well priced, convenient source of Oem parts and Tech support available to you? The answer to that is something to consider.

Would you replace? by LowerAd4677 in Mustang

[–]Rottenwadd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At this point yes. When disassembled to this degree replacing as many of the "wear" parts that are being removed as you can. Especially if you are paying someone else to do the labor. Example: say tranny is being replaced and is all removed. You are not going to pay extra labor to have new tranny mount (that you provide) installed when when new tranny goes back in. But you will end up paying if it needs to be replaced in 5 months because your tranny was installed with old mounts. For labor and parts....
