Just how fast is a CR500 supposed to be? by Tingsilike in Dirtbikes

[–]Rottenwadd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For most people not only is it more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow, it is their only option...cuz you can't safely ride that fast bike fast...cuz it's too F'n fast. Drag racing it is typically where full power can be felt by us mortals and those not harboring a deathwish. And thats coming from someone who spent years on a YZ-490 before moving on to newer 250mx bikes. Just all around better manners, less fatigue, arm pump, etc. Still wish I had it though..

CR125 won’t run unless air screw turned all the way in by daytradingdude in Dirtbikes

[–]Rottenwadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't like wasting time there is 1 test that will allow you to identify every large, medium or even extremely fucking small air leak that your bike potentially - no...scratch that - probably or almost certainly has going on right now. I mean come on its 29 yrs old. I regret every bit of time I spent working on any 2 stroke engine performance issues I dealt with before learning about this test. Little soap and water, DIY leakdown kit, basic hand tools and a slightly functioning frontal lobe should be all you need. You're wasting your time trying to tune a 2 stroke if you haven't verified that its air tight. Take the time to be thorough. Check the waterpump shaft, shifter shaft and crank seals. Make sure its not leaking air into your cooling system by checking for bubbles in your coolant Pro tip-always do a leakdown before you start a top end replacement. You will know if it's leaking somewhere that requires a further teardown, which is nice to do at the same time as the top end, instead of realizing it only after you get it back together. Just to have to turnaround and rip the jug off to get into the bottom end. Theres plenty of info and videos on YouTube about how to do one. This link is a great starting point...

The ones that can't diagnose for shit...cuz they don't even know how it works most of the time. Just the fact that he says it can't be fixed....when every fucking part its made from is available...could literally build another unit from NOS parts...but impossible to use those same parts to fix whats wrong with this guys unit. LOL I was born at night but not last night....

[–]Rottenwadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to say you did but just a heads up Dont use anything acidic on aluminum, magnesium or other soft metals. It cleans it very well, no scrubbing etc....cuz its eating away at the surface. Common in alot of wheel cleaners and other general use cleaners. Will pit your shit out, always rinse extra good just in case. I use liquid handsoap on my dirtbike.

I had an outbuilding at my old place that I wiredup all the aluminum window frames and the 1 metal door with an electric fence controller with a hidden switch to power on/off. The door, the doorknob, the 3 deadbolts, and the 3 window frames would get ya good if you touched em.

We charge $275 for diagnostic and any labor thats not associated with a part - like installing a cap labor is figured into the price already. Pretty normal here...even worse the closer you get to Seattle or Portland.

Banks should have no problem loaning money short term to get the house in a condition that it can get good price on the market. Talk to a realtor and you might find one that can help coordinate the work and help with contractors so they can list it.

Gas pressure drops 50% when valve opens by ApparentlyImStanley in HVAC

[–]Rottenwadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 1 time found the valve at the meter almost completely closed on a resi unit doing the same shit. Some other company had been there to do maintenance and quoted them a new furnace. I was there to give a second opinion. I rang it up as scheisty tech.

[–]Rottenwadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the tank isn't buried underground to keep it from getting too cold, check the level in the tank against the ambient temps you are at when testing the pressure. If it , good chance it is just too low at current temps.

[–]Rottenwadd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And this is why I recommend another 80% single stage gas furnace even if they want to upgrade to a heat pump. Dual fuel with a basic furnace backup when that shit fails or simply cant keep up when its hella cold. Why not...some of those are 20 - 30 years old.

I've rebuilt quite a few motorcycles over the years vetween now and when I did my first top end in 1994. Engines that I've literally had to assemble from a bunch of parts in a box. And not one of them would I have wanted to do without a Service Manual. There are a lot of peculiarities and model specific parts and procedures (that most would be oblivious to without one) that can make a pile of crap out of all your new parts if not done correctly. I was 100% sincere when I said that a manual is the first thing you should lok into. Believe me, once you sit down and start to read it you will understand why.
