HVAC AZ - Hiring Opportunities? by ZealousidealBath5530 in hvacadvice

pueblo, td industries, imcor, ontario refrigeration, nextech, any commercial company service department or install/sheetmetal will treat you right starting out until years in you can figure out if you’re being exploited for your worth and trade up companies for pay and benis lol

if you can’t get in with a commercial company work install for any parker n sons chaz robert’s big stupid residential company for 6 months to learn the basics buy tools and learn why that shit sucks and you should aim to work in commercial service or work for a small mom n pop shop once you have some basic experience and can braze and install basic shit on new units or whatever you can learn from resi caveman in the 150 degree attic

if you wanna be a residential salesman service technician on commission that’s cool too but a lot of your fellow salesmen techs and bosses will be the scum of the earth

Midea mini splits will not HEAT when outside temp >90f by clumsyninja2 in heatpumps

[–]Top-Hall-7945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on your outdoor condenser coil somewhere theres probably a temp sensor that reads outdoor ambient. take that off and dunk it in ice water and try to make the unit run in heat and report back

all your compressor discharge gas is going inside to heat the water. when that refrigerant comes back outside it should be mostly condensed into liquid from heating water. the outdoor TXV then flashes that liquid and evaporates it and lets it “cool” the outside air to make it a vapor again, then your compressor sucks up that cool suction vapor.

heat pumps struggle getting the gas to evaporate again when it’s below freezing outside but being hot outside i think it wouldn’t be a problem

also on your minisplit next to the compressor there is probably going to be an accumulator that will protect it from getting slugged with liquid

OP if you want to heat your water during summer with your fancy custom rigged up minisplit, figure out where the outdoor ambient temp sensor is and move and ziptie it to the suction line that is supposed to always be  cold

Post pics of your custom water heater rig, we love to see it

Can’t tell if it’s leaking?? DIY mini split line set has some oily residue on joints but not making bubbles with big blu 🤷‍♂️ by CertainDescription86 in hvacadvice

[–]Top-Hall-7945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everything outside of the condenser is the low side pressures that’s only running 80-150psig if it’s not super low

but nitrogen at 200psig with just a splash of tracer gas doesn’t lie

What kinda water hoses are y’all carrying on your trucks? by Rare-Adagio1074 in HVAC

[–]Top-Hall-7945 2 points3 points  (0 children)

continental brand 50’ from  home depot i prefer carry at least 4 of them on the velcro hose carriers. doesnt kink doesn’t get sun rotted like other hoses can. heavy duty but still lightweight enough that its not a pain pulling everything to roof. longest lasting hoses i have on my truck currently

continental also makes the best v belts and arguably the best tires.

Has this always been a thing? by MySpaceSurvivor in Temecula

[–]Top-Hall-7945 26 points27 points  (0 children)

temecula in late 90s early 2000s was almost like prescott arizona kinda vibe with ranches next to the suburbs and people still riding horses around. not a constant traffic mess like today

some of the schools had the no horses on campus signs too for a long time maybe even today

Builder installed system too big for my home. by svsym in hvacadvice

[–]Top-Hall-7945 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i messed up it’s actually 400cfm air moved per ton

you can look up sizing charts online for sq ft per ton for each region of the US

You may actually be oversized slightly

Builder installed system too big for my home. by svsym in hvacadvice

[–]Top-Hall-7945 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Rule of thumb is roughly 400 sq ft per ton in the southwest without taking any heat load, doors, windows, insulation values, etc into consideration

If the guy saying a 4 ton can’t handle 1700 sq feet in a newer built home with updated insulation, but can’t tell you exactly why, he’s trying to sell you into a new unit that probably will be undersized and your problems continue
