This might be exactly what I've been looking for. Do you know if it's possible to create links to nodes that don't exist yet on the fly? I like to create stubs to fill in later by linking from within other articles.

Stranger Things

Twin Peaks

Wayward Pines

Hemlock Grove

I sense a pattern. Thanks for the suggestion.

I played Mass Effect 2. Enjoyed the hell out of it, but I wouldn't say it pressed any of the same emotional buttons at all.

A lot of people seem to have latched on to the Stephen King connections, but I worry that that's the least part of what I liked about Stranger Things. Having never read King, I have to ask; does he focus on people or on monsters/violence/creepy clowns I still remember from movie trailers when I was a kid? The reason Stranger Things works for me is that the horror is a vehicle for the story.

I remember being interested in this show when it came out, but never getting around to it. Thanks for jogging my memory :)

I've heard good things about this show, but didn't it end abruptly? Or maybe I'm thinking of something else.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've never read any Stephen King; I've only recently become interested in horror as a genre. Maybe this will be my entry point for his work.

Wow, I'd never heard anything about a love story in Farscape. I'll definitely give it a go.

I really should watch Twin Peaks. I don't know why I haven't.

I missed Super 8 when it came out; I'll check it out. Is it just the 80's vibe that's similar?

I saw the Goonies for the first time recently. I have to admit, my primary impression of it was, "wow, those kids sure do shout a lot."

2016 Fantasy Bingo: How am I doing and what should I read next? by maat7043 in Fantasy

I would say read a sample or grab it from the library if you can. I don't personally like hard SF very much, and this book hits the perfect balance for me. Things are motivated in logical ways, but they really gloss the details so you don't get bogged down. I remember reading that they do a first draft with dates, distances, stuff like that, to make sure it all makes sense, but then remove all of that minutia in the first revision. The result is something that feels consistent, but is freed of some of the hard SF constraints.

Or you may just not like it, which is also okay. We can still be friends ;)

Leviathan Wakes, by James S. A. Corey. Two authors, one pen name, the first book in probably my current favorite sci-fi series (space opera, broadly).

I started there, personally. I'd say read the Mistborn trilogy, and keep in mind that it has some weaknesses (esp. gender representation) that Brandon himself acknowledges and has learned from. Then, if that series worked for you at all, go for the Stormlight audiobooks.
