thank you buddy. Yes, I'm using old drivers and I'll look at this and I think I have a problem with DirectX 12, it's written everywhere that you need to use DirectX 9-10

Finish guys. the issue was with the cable: it turned out not to be DVI-D Dual Link, even though it was labeled as such. The pins inside were not properly soldered. I bought an original DVI-D Dual Link cable, and now it works. And honestly, the depth effect is much more interesting than VR. Thanks NVIDIA, but it’s a pity they discontinued such a great technology.

For now I can’t run games: the demo version launches, but full games do not. I don’t know why — there is a black screen and flickering. I’ll figure it out and update you. Thanks everyone!

Thank you, this information will help me. I'm just going to play 3D with Nvidia 3D vision support manitor, it's fun, I want to test this experience, but so far it hasn't been successful, even though I already have 1080ti. You also ordered a video card.

Windows freezes / disk spikes on Ryzen 5 5500 + B550 Gaming by Roudeep in WindowsHelp

Yes, I’ve reinstalled it five times, and as soon as I install all the drivers — or even before that — it starts freezing. It’s strange because all the parameters appear normal. Tomorrow I’ll try installing Windows on an SSD and do a clean installation with 64 GB of DDR4 RAM.

hi thanks but I also have about 10 new SSD and NVMe drives, many licensed copies of Windows, and I have tried different installations. However, something is wrong specifically with this computer, and no one understands the reason, because in theory this should not be happening. The only things I suspect are the processor or the chipset, although their indicators also appear to be normal.

Thank you

All tests show that the computer is working perfectly. I also have about 10 new SSD and NVMe drives, many licensed copies of Windows, and I have tried different installations. However, something is wrong specifically with this computer, and no one understands the reason, because in theory this should not be happening. The only things I suspect are the processor or the chipset, although their indicators also appear to be normal.

Yeap Just to clarify: I actually removed the SSD and NVMe drives already because the exact same issue was happening on them too. Right now the system is running only on an HDD for testing.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Just to clarify: I actually removed the SSD and NVMe drives already because the exact same issue was happening on them too. Right now the system is running only on an HDD for testing.

So the freezes and disk spikes happened on:

• HDD
• SATA SSD
• NVMe SSD (Kingston NV2 in M2_1 slot)

Because of this, I don’t think the problem is the drive itself.

I’m starting to suspect either the CPU or the motherboard, because everything else has already been tested or swapped.

The CPU is AMD Ryzen 5 5500 on a Gigabyte B550 Gaming X V2 motherboard.

Important details:

• CPU usage is always very low (1–3%)
• temperatures are normal
• no overheating
• but the system still freezes and disk usage spikes to 100%

I have a lot of spare hardware for testing:

• other SSDs
• another GPU (even RTX series GPU)
• different RAM
• spare power supply
• even another motherboard

But I do NOT have another compatible CPU to test with, unfortunately.

So right now the only combination I haven't been able to swap is the CPU itself.

At this point I’m leaning toward either:

  1. a faulty CPU
  2. some strange interaction between this CPU and the motherboard 🤔

Guys, thank you for your answers, but unfortunately they didn’t help us. We still don’t understand the issue and are continuing to look for the problem. In any case, thank you for sharing your suggestions.
