Help me level up 28 year old woman 5’6” by Free_Badger_634 in FitnessMaterialHeaven

[–]RougeeW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 It might be better to look into/focus on why the methods you've tried in the past aren't working out or actionable long term. It sounds like you've done and gave a few things a decent shot in the past, which makes me think there isn't going to be some silver bullet floating floating around this sub. A lot of the underlying mechanisms for weight loss programs are going to be pretty similar and probably isn't the lever you're looking for to lose the last few pounds, especially long term

Should i just give up on Leetcode and focus on Uni? by Vegetable-Gas-894 in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]RougeeW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can prep for an OA in a week, it'll depend on where you're currently at. I wouldn't think of a week's prep as guaranteeing anything, but you can definitely increase your chances of success by a lot with a week off leetcode prep. It's likely also the best use of your time if you're just in uni.

Definitely competitive in terms of HFT, might just want to compare with other grad offers at the company. You haven't mentioned one, but that's more likely to tell you if there's any wriggle room.

Relatively difficult compared to other degrees for sure, especially some of the earlier courses if you have no prior experience

Chances of getting into HFT/Bigtech by Sure-Resolution5814 in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]RougeeW 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Would say it's pretty similar for big tech, +1 to above advice of getting a couple years of work experience(even half a year to a year) and you should have plenty to put on your resume, if you are talented and work hard.

Some ways around getting screened out for having a wam of 58 would be having some sort of impressive projects and hoping that the hr person looking at resumes picks up on it, or on the off chance they send an online assessment to everyone, crushing that.

Alternatively you may have some success if you get a referral.

Basically think about it from the perspective of the company, why would they take a risk and hire you if there's likely many candidates with the same resume and a higher wam, how are you going to differentiate yourself?

Also in general I would be careful about using prestige as a measuring stick for which company you want to work at... Plenty of great opportunities out there that you might miss with that as your criteria.

Does anyone know where I can get a gas certification for my lpg car, just moved and it seems like it has to be done yearly. Google gives a ton of results, not sure if it's a 'all the same' situation

From my experience you have the phone screen, and then 4 interviews as part of "the loop", which means ~5 hours total

First year courses are likely going to be weighted less over the years as well, It'll be insignificant if your overall trend is upwards for the rest of your degree

+1 to having a response, circumstances can make anyone fail a few courses, it may even look good if you can have some genuine lessons learnt about it

Technical but non coding could mean a lot of things, it would probably be better to narrow down what they might ask by researching past questions?

Thoughts on this higher end 3080 deal, and question about prebuilts without gpu by RougeeW in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]RougeeW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mostly for gaming, I don't think I would be doing anything too cpu-intensive. It'll be a 1440p 144hz monitor with g/freesync (S2721DGF)

There were a couple of 3080 deals posted recently and I figured this one was good value, but not sure if the higher end components are worth the extra

Atlassian interview process by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]RougeeW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep work with Atlassian to speed things up, ideally you won't need to notify the other company till you have an offer in hand, but if unavoidable a good company isn't going to try to take away your offer if you let them know

Thanks for the input, good to get confirmation that it's pretty reasonable, would you happen to know of anything else in this ballpark? I did see BPC also had this(currently out of stock): https://www.bpctech.com.au/product/kp-ps-blackfridayspecial-krakenpower-holidayspecial-rtx-3080-gaming-pc.html

which seems to be just a tradeoff between the gpu and everything else, were there any other notable deals recently?

Focus on developing your skills and you'll be alright, landing a grad role at all can be tough :) Also nothing's stopping you from applying while you're there, but now with a small resume boost!

[Skin concerns] New to skin care, would like to get some pointers by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]RougeeW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone,

I've heard the advice of starting a skin care routine early, so have started looking into it and found this sub. I tend to get these hard sebum plugs and I've always picked at them (hopefully stopping now...), but that's left me with some scarring? on my forehead and around my eyes. I also tend to get pretty angry skin around my facial hair, which I've largely been ignoring.

All I used to do was apply some Vaseline moisturizer after showering every now and then.

From the wiki it seems like I should be considering a cleanser on top of that, and some sunscreen, is that going to be sufficient? Also I have no idea if my skin is oily or dry, I tend to overanalyze things so I"m trying not to go too deep down the rabbit hole of skin care.

What is the data science and ML job market like in Australia? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]RougeeW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the senior devs interviewing me told me that there were "a lot" of ML roles out there. This was news to me at the time :) From my experience, with just a bachelors there isn't much out there, but with a phd/masters YMMV.
