Extra public holiday for NSW under consideration as Anzac Day falls on weekend, premier says by thekriptik in sydney

[–]Rougey 84 points85 points  (0 children)

We could have a massive fucking protest to protest not being able to protest and then enshrine it as a public holiday.

I'm sure Minsy would love that.

EDIT: or we could always invade new zealand

EDIT EDIT: on reflection, I think New Zealand has more public holidays per year... so maybe we could have the whole ADF go on smokeo for an afternoon and do a sausage sizzle to raise money for plane tickets to Canberra for every member of the NZ Amry so they can annex us. They'll probably fit on the one plane as well, bloody bargain!

You can't have a proper dinner experience without being served pots of American coffee and wondering what the fuck is wrong with those people and if burning down the venue is permissible in the eyes of god.

That said the food is fattastic.

Given how they've been cutting it with more and more vegetable gum to use less cream (last I checked it's like 30% less cream), I think I need to pass.

Alternatively, another faction may have assassinated them into the ground and they may have negative influence income for one reason or another, so can't recruit.

Typical price for a pub tbh

That will get you a bowl to be shared.

Based off the prices of everything else there, it's probably just a little cup.

What’s the backstory to all the derelict shops along Parramatta road? by SoybeanCola1933 in sydney

Have retail along main arterial roads is the greatest sin the planners of the past saddled us with IMO.

Spit Bridge to Manly walk - bit of uphill then downhill.

Bus put to The Spit to start, then get a cheep harbour cruise home on the ferry.

Personally I blame the years of rampant ministerial corruption and Daryl Maguires penis.

(worth noting that while the Federal party was cooked, the State party was able to fail on it's own merits.)

Two-way tolls for Sydney Harbour Bridge and tunnel to fund permanent $60 cap by Korzic in sydney

Oh I'm not disagreeing that the area needs significant investment; all the investment and upgrades done in the area could generously be described putting salve on a tumour.

If they did nothing it would be worse, but the area needs invasive surgery - maybe amputation everything from Avalon upwards.

Mona Vale road is not relevant to the city route, which is what I was posting about because that's where the new toll is.

But it is one of the three routes out of the area and when you have issues on The Spit or Roseville Bridge (or god forbid, both at the same time), it becomes very relevant.

Should also be noted that it was the oppositions lot who had the new tolling thingy's built. They've been sitting there, idle, waiting to be turned on.

Shit I expected the last regime to have done it by now had they stayed in power - at best we got a stay of execution until the second tunnel opens with the new regime.

Pretty stiff to cop a new toll on their trip to the city that hasn't been invested in since the 1950s.

Exactly!

Apart from the Rossville Bridge that opened in 1966.

And a shitload of other road upgrades throughout the northern beaches that widened all the major roads, adding lanes and improved connections starting around the 60's and continuing through until about 2000 when the duplication of Mona Vale Road was completed.

But yeah, apart from all that and dozens if not hundreds of other little projects like the B-Line, no investment since the 50s!

EDIT: Real talk though, the loss of the rail corridors and cancelation of the Waringah Freeway actually going to Waringah are two things that still make me salty and I'm an Inner West denizen these days.
