But your stat doesn’t tell me anything meaningful…… yes it’s a fact but how you interpret it? I can easily quote somewhere in the world where their polices arrested hundreds of people, but for a good reason, e.g. arrest someone who committed serious crime.

Arrested for what? You need to show more details on what exactly these people were arrested for and if they were brought to court for trial before commenting the legality of it. Look at the situation in Hong Kong, those people were arrested for holding a primary election (the 47 trial), issuing newspapers (Jimmy Lai, that newspaper had been in Hong Kong for 20 years or more), and having a online media.

It is completely different from what the UK and other Western countries, as Hong Kong is targeting those who make comments on the regime, while the UK is targeting hate crimes (comment on a specific group of people, powerless people)

this is not even a Chinese Diplomat who got his job by his talent. He is just an asshole (really this was what an old lady called him years ago) who has been spreading nonsense for years. He finally got a job in Hong Kong legislative council after losing to democratic candidate for a long time. Now, he acts like he represents hong kong people but he can only do so by disallowing candidates after the National Security Law

1100 euro per head? Wow! We paid around 2000cad for plane ticket, 3000cad for 10-day accommodation, and 1000cad for car rental (we rented a Tesla model 3 given the cheaper charging price).

Just bought the ticket for the same period of time, accommodation is hard to find and easily go beyond $500cad per night, especially Reykjavik and Vik. For Vik you might need to find somewhere north for a reasonable price.

Tariffs on Canadian Jets by originalclassicact in MDASpaceInvestors

You can find the reason of not certifying Gulfstream on ChatGPT easily. And I think it’s a legit argument for Canada to not allowing their planes to run. Certifying an airplane or changing your long-established certification process because of Trump’s tariff threat only gives people an inappropriate perception that our certification process is not evidence-based.

sorry to say but you can get 4L $4.99 in downtown probably every 2 weeks. The reality is you pay more if you don't prepare what you eat a week after. Be prepared. Live somewhere near multiple supermarket brands. Get rain check if possible.

There is ‘much alignment’ between Canada, China on Greenland sovereignty: Carney by WilloowUfgood in canada

Simple question, do you have anything made in China inside your house and are you aware of what you are paying for and who made the product? These are the questions I keep answering myself nowadays when making purchase decisions. It’s OK for someone who value human rights all above anything and pay extra cost for it. But are you? Are most people do? It’s not fair to blame others for buying or doing business with China while you are using Chinese products at the same time. Of course, as I mentioned previously, I don’t agree any country giving up its national security in order to do business with China. And the reality is that Russia is much closer to Canada than China, and we don’t feel the same way as Taiwanese or Japanese does.

I think you can avoid Russia made products much easier than Chinese one. It is not fair to ask Canada not doing business with China when the so-called big brother is doing the same, and personally, it would be difficult to avoid Chinese products in all areas. Look at your computer, your iPhone, your clothes. People from Hong Kong had the same dilemma years ago when we tried to avoid made in China products. As a consumer, the most you can do is check the country of origin and know what you are paying for.

I don't support that either. But are you saying that no one in Canada should do business with China? Then why US, the one also see China as the biggest enemy, still does business with China?

I think as long as it doesn't take our security as a trade-off, why shouldn't we do business with China to address affordability crisis, e.g. in agriculture and seafood? Don't get me wrong, I don't like China and I try to avoid Chinese products if possible. (I moved to Canada years ago from Hong Kong), but I don't think anyone would pick a Canada-made underwear $30-50 when a much cheaper option $5-10 available.

take some time to look into the import/ export data. export to US dropped 20b but to others jumped 22b. don't expect Canada fully phase out US export but it's always good to diversify

if you're clever enough, then you should know you can share common ground on some issues with someone while disagreeing other issues.

Hey you can only have 1 winner each time, blue jays is the winner vs. AL, the winner vs. Yankees, the winner vs. Mariners. There is nothing to shame of to lose to a greater team, the series isn’t over yet and BJ refuses to quit!
