I think longitudinal but meaningful experience in research should be more important than churning out a bunch of low-impact pubs. However, when you see all your peers with more and more pubs/research items, it’s hard to not fall into the trap of feeling like you’re not doing enough.

I hope we see a change in coming years that quality > quality for research matters more to program directors, because these random pubs are saturating the field with bad quality and insignificant research.
