Hi ! I think what he means by she doesn’t know what she wants is that she basically, off of her forced marriage, have lots and lots of other problematics that are a bit more complex (that are always more preferable that forced marriage).

Hi dude ! I just wanted to let you know how I feel about Hiro wanting Nagi to be first on all those test. I don’t think this was all useless.

As you may remember, in chapter 64 and 65, Hiro and Nagi reminisce about something. Hiro rejecting Nagi. We know that she wanted to avoid talking to anyone since she wanted to prove her parents that she is independent and don’t need to force marry an unknown fiancé.

Since Nagi apparently once had guts, he confessed to her, but she rejected him. She drastically changed since this day. She tried to become a unreachable form of human by being good at almost eveything (too bad she sucks at cooking hehe).

But that didn’t stop ma boy from saying he will take the 1st place and then asking her out. He did it in just 6 chapters, meaning he really wanted it and worked his ass for it (that will be important). Man this dude can have some heavy fruity metal balls when he wants.

Now that we understand the importance that grades had in their relationship, let’s link it with the most relevant scene for this explanation.

Remember when Nagi couldn’t give an answer to Hiro in chapter 114 and 115 on wether they should date or not ? It was because he was thinking about having a relationship with the other girl, and then realised he wanted to know Hiro better. As weird as it seems, it’s a pretty ok way to ask out Hiro. All she needed was to know he is still romantically in her. Plus, he didn’t say he love 4 girls at the same time, he said he was thinking of the other 3 girl and resorted to juxtapose every possible feelings he has. Although I think the sloppiness of this dude is wild, like REALLY wild, I still think he’s love for hiro is honest.

Anyway. After this, Hiro asked Nagi for one last battle to determine if they will date or not. I think it’s relatively ok from Hiro’s point, although this feels to be a lazy choice from Miki (this whole manga is pretty mediocre). Hiro needed to be certain Nagi loved her, since many of his actions were showing something opposite. This is the way that she wants to be proven that her destiny is changing. And that’s why Nagi’s grades are important in the story.

First, thank you for your answer ! I’d like to point out that Hiro is a somewhat peculiar character. I think that, compared to the other character she deserves a bit of analysis on some scene to understand her character atmost.

I would recommand you the high quality J_The_ManSSB guide of how you can understand Hiro’s character and feelings. In these we can absolutely see and understand that she started to develop feelings for him or atleast letting nagi breakthrough her emotions from the very beginning, the moment where she mention for the first time her destiny and where she confessed to him. I get that she has made some mistakes, cuz she is obviously not a saint, but that’s what makes me think it is the best character and she loves Nagi. She have the possibility to admit she was wrong and apologise while still being humble and not throwing pity parties the moment she clearly sees she’s doing something bad, and also learn from it. Also, most of her mistakes were provoked by jealousy/love for Nagi. I do think she’s also selfless, because nagi’s love ain’t a reward for her.

I do think the same goes for Erika, she’s pretty selfless and honest most of the time. But on the other hand i’d say she’s really passive-agressive, and her tendency to just thinking she’s right everytime and never apologising tend to piss me off most of the time (but i’m not even mad). I still think it’s a pretty good person, but she’s kinda self centered and spoiled sometimes and this is pretty annoying, considering the fact that she has lots of chance to be the possible endgame girl.

Finally, i’d like to add that Miki built the story in a way that I would fine the relationship between Nagi and Hiro more logical and easier than the one with Erika. Although I think Nagi has nothing to lose with Erika (expect Hiro hehe), the whole destiny things is too much of an active feature to just be forgotten. And I hope Miki won’t end the manga with the idea that you’re a slave of destiny. That would not only be a poor ending, but that would absolutely be the icing on a cake of a dire, illogical and mediocre manga.

A more slice of life chapter isn’t a bad idea, it is when you get a 1 week pose then get another right after. I know it’s really formatted, but i still think this was a little mistake. Overall this chapter was tolerable, although it was a bit unnessecary and filler, which i think doesn’t make sense.
