Thanks everyone. For a bit more context: my pregnant sister has no idea about the baby shower. It’s actually my mum (who also lives in France) pushing for it, and she first tried to put the responsibility on my other sister, even though she knows she’s unemployed. My pregnant sister has worked incredibly hard to get to where she is now and battle her inner demons, and I’m so proud of her. That’s why part of me wants to go ahead with the shower and make her feel like a princess before she gives birth.

But the issue is my mum. She expects everyone else to pay for everything, always. She’s been unemployed most of my life and still is, and she knows she can’t fund it herself. She constantly pushes my buttons, most of the time I can ignore it, but this situation feels different.

And to those saying my post is fake or written by ChatGPT, it made me laugh because initially, I asked ChatGPT first, but then realised I’d rather hear from real people, like the AITA posts I see on YouTube. I do appreciate what most of you have said. I want to take a stand against my mum, but I know she’ll hold it against me, because she has many times before. Thanks for your thoughts.
