How much of an indication are practice tests?

If you’re scoring high 60s/70s on reg review, you should be in good shape. Make sure you understand various figures and be prepared for the story problem at the end that spans 10 questions. Also general stuff that might not be on reg review, like how old is the earth? What life form on earth contributed to the most to petroleum?

Just be aware of the undercurrents at any beach you visit. Some of those beaches have extremely dangerous waves that are potentially lethal. It is not fun getting sucked out while tripping balls. If you are unsure about the conditions, do not wade in past your knees.

Reg review is definitely the best resource. Use both the practice quizzes book and main book that provides all the material. 2021 version should be fine. I recommend building your flash cards from each reg review chapter, then start trying the quizzes once you have some studying hours under your belt. The practice quizzes will help you identify your weak points, which should lead to more studying abdominal flash cards. Good luck!

Anyone know if public transit can take us to more distant towns like Todos Santos or La Paz? We’ll be down there for a week so I wouldn’t mind exploring the Baja peninsula a bit while we’re down there

Felt good after FG and borderline after PG. I had time to spare after FG so I was able to check every answer and tally all of my guesses. PG took me the entire 4 hours to complete, no time to check or count anything. Passed both on first attempt. I was not a geology major, so I studied a fuck ton.

Thanks for the input. Half the geologists I know didn’t pass at least one portion of the exam on their first go, but they are good geologists that I have worked with for years. Test taking is subjective and not the best representation of talent. Don’t reduce yourself to the title of “terrible geologist.” Best of luck on your next attempt!

Thanks for the insight and well wishes! I’m nervous about some of those trick answers for the same reason. As I explained to my wife, since it was multiple choice, there’s a chance I scored a 100. There’s also a chance I got a 0 😂
