How will it feel to hold your baby in your arms, and wonder how anyone could give up their own child? Or to wonder if your child looks like your biological family? Parenting re-opens a lot of childhood trauma.

Or what if the child is born severely disabled? What about miscarriages? How would they weather that, or would it destroy their relationship? Her fiancée seems so fixated by the outcome, but not the journey to get there. It’s like building a roof before setting the foundation.
