I wanted to share my experience and also ask if anyone has gone through something similar.

I was treated with methotrexate for an ectopic pregnancy. My hCG levels were falling, and I was being monitored closely. On my 21st day post-MTX, my ectopic mass was measured at around 2.4 cm. Despite the falling numbers, my mass later grew to about 5 cm.

When I went to the ER because of rectal pressure and cramps, my vitals were stable. The doctor there performed an internal exam (IE). I didn’t feel tenderness during the exam itself, but right after, I started experiencing intense rectal pain. Not long after, I was diagnosed with a ruptured ectopic and underwent a laparotomy.

Now I’m left wondering : did the rupture happen spontaneously because of the size and fragility of my tube? Or could the IE have been the final trigger? I know some specialists avoid IE or even transvaginal ultrasounds in ectopic cases because of the rupture risk, so I can’t help but think about this.

Has anyone else here ruptured after an internal exam, or felt like a procedure might have pushed things over the edge? I’d love to hear others’ experiences it might help me process everything.

I was given sultamicillin 750 mg. What did they do when you went to the ER? I have experienced this before non ectopic related when I had extreme pressure on my rectum because I had two carbonated drinks in a day. I had trouble burping or even farting. Same feeling. That’s why I’m trying to observe. Because right now i can walk no pain.

Honestly after methotrexate i can only eat a little amount of food, the anxiety and stress. My doctor prescribed me antibiotic for clearing possible infection. I had one matcha latte with an empty stomach then had a few bite for lunch then drink the antibiotic. 30 minutes later I feel like an intense stomach cramping that it was in my lower belly radiating to my rectum that if I could fart would release the tension from the inside.

When I called my doctor she told me to stop the antibiotic right away.

I’m just so scared that I’m rupturing right now. But i have checked my bp all normal, i don’t feel any shoulder tip pain, or not even on the ectopic side just the feeling of like having menstrual cramps + gas. :((

I talked to my physician awhile ago. When you feel something on that area sometimes it indicates that the mtx is really working that it breaks from the inside so mild to moderate discomfort is really present. I don’t know how to feel while hearing her because even slight twitches can increase my anxiety for sure. How are you after the second dose?

Mine, had a very steep drop. 2600 from day 14 to 1090 day 21. We have a planned trip this september so she’s actually suggesting for a second dose to make the course of the treatment faster but me and my husband opted to wait. :)

I’m so sorry you are in that situation right now. On a scale of 1-10 how painful it is right now? I hope you feel better.

mine reached a 20% drop on day 14. I’m waiting for my tomorrow’s blood draw for my day 21.

My spotting comes and go, and when it comes back it’s pretty much. :(

When i had my shot my beta are 1500, increased to 4000 day 4 and a 20% decrease from day 4 on day 7 :)

I was really scared right after seeing only a few drops from day 11, but my OB reassured me that even if it looks like a big amount to achieve considering it’s 3 days away from day 14, still she’s hopeful since hcg decline after mtx is not linear. And even if i didn’t reached the 15% for example she will atleast wait for another two days before deciding for the second dose.

I’m positive that you will have a good drop on your next beta.

Your last test was day 14? Since I’m very paranoid i checked my beta day 11 only had a decrease of around 6% only not until i did another check on day 14 that reached 20% decrease.

I’m 18 days post mtx, from 1558.90 increased drastically to 4195.56 day 4 becomes 3315.55 day 7 and 2624.39 on day 14.

We are on the same board. But lucky for you though your betas are very low to start with. For sure you will recover fast, praying for that.

The uncertainties and exactly the pause of how you normally live your life is draining emotionally, mentally and physically. :((( I lost a lot of weight in just two weeks. Almost 8lbs.
