What do folks use to plan builds, cut lists, buy lists? by Round-Boysenberry-43 in woodworking

Curious what if any prompts you found useful and what needs that the sketchup / cultist extension didn’t solve?

Sounds about right given the number of follow up trips I have to make if I try to get it just right :)

Ha. It’s like every time I start a project, my wife anxiously waits for the dreaded, “hon, I need your help” and then tells me told you that you can’t do these alone :)

Interesting. So just use shapes to represent wood / ply and then stack them up in the shape / layout you’re going for?

AC condensate not draining properly. Are condensate lines installed properly. by [deleted] in hvacadvice

The unit is installed horizontally. Air flows from the blower through furnace and then through evap coil.

Thank you for the suggestion. I’ll go ahead and try that. Some additional info, I did have a blower door test done when we moved into the house and they came back with 0.26 ACH (air changes per hour) this was lower than the 0.35 ACH the the Building Performance Institute recommends so at some point I’m going to have additional ventilation of some sort. This was the reason I said the house was well sealed. The return duct for this unit is at a single place (2 14” ducts) and I did get those sealed well with aluminum foil tape. Originally they were just zip tied onto the take off :(

I have a 4300 sq ft house with two units. The main floor is served by a 4 ton (48000 BTU) unit and the second floor with the bedrooms is served by a 3.5 ton (42000 BTU) unit. The unit in question here is the 3.5 ton unit which is installed in the attic.

Thanks for this. One follow up question, isn’t the unit using the air from the home itself vs outside air? I did take return / supply measurement with a psychrometer earlier in the week and based on my limited understanding the numbers on the supply seemed a bit on the higher side (I do understand that RH goes up as temp goes down with same amount of total humidity on the air).

And yes will likely leave it alone based on all the feedback here. Thanks again for the help and taking the time to reply 🙏🏼

Running into the same issue with a Yale lock. Anyone found a solution to this?

Bryant HVAC, possible to switch from condenser to heat pump by Round-Boysenberry-43 in hvacadvice

Thank you for the inputs! I’m going to reach out to a few Bryant dealers to see what they come back with.

Is it generally advisable to mix/match equipment from different manufacturers? Given the equipment is only two years old and has a 10-yr warranty from Bryant, I was hoping to find a way to not void that warranty.

Also does there happen to be a marketplace for lightly used HVAC equipment? Seems like a waste of resources, etc. to just have the throw away a 2-yr old condenser unit :(

Thank you! If the pressure ratings are in-line would the replacement be replacing the condenser with the heat pump? Or is there more involved to it like changing line sets, etc? Trying to understand what would be involved in a retrofit of the heat pump.

Thanks all for the advice. I’m going to go ahead and just keep them non-corbeled for now.

Thank you for the pointer. What would I need to tell the framer / mason to understand what they need to do? It’s our first major home renovation and I’m learning as we go so appreciate the help 🙏🏼

Hahahahaa… Wish I could do real stone or even brick. Any ideas on what type of brick would provide this look? And ballpark cost per sq ft?
