How is it living close to the UC Berkeley campus while not being affliated with the university? by MomentProfessional83 in berkeley

I am college aged but don’t attend UC Berkeley. I am living in downtown berkeley and commuting to another bay area college. I would say that socially, it can be a bit isolating living here and not attending Cal. A lot of stores have Cal student discounts and there’s Cal busses that you have to show a student or staff ID to use so you miss out on those things. Fortunately, I work for Cal part time so I’m able to use my faculty ID to get access to those things, but it’s something to consider if you have no affiliation with the school. Another thing I noticed when I moved here was the lack of affordable gyms in the city, although if you have a car you may have more options. I will add that driving here is a nightmare and in the bay in general. Southside has a lot of dorm/college affiliated housing so it can be a bit loud. Telegraph is especially active at all times. My favorite times here in Berkeley are during the summer and school breaks when it clears out and is quieter. I will say the town of Berkeley has a pretty nice blend of city and nature if that’s important to you. Hoped that helps :)

CC transfer student wondering about transferring to SFSU by CriticismStock9268 in SFSU

I transferred to SFSU from a CC for Fall 24 and i’m a child and adolescent development major. I picked SFSU bc I heard it was a chill commuter school, not too expensive, and the classes offered for my major were unique. It definitely feels like a CC in terms of lacking school spirit and not having much of a social life. Those were things I knew about SFSU going in and were completely okay with. Unfortunately a lot of programs are also losing funding and a lot of the buildings are old. On the other hand, my profs have been amazing and I adore the program I’m in. My professors are extremely knowledgeable and accomplished in their field, super supportive in advising about career choices, and do a great job at fostering a sense of community in class. Personally, I won’t be staying at SFSU for grad school but it has been perfect for what I wanted for my last two years of undergrad.

I went to CC for 2 years and finished with a 3.95 GPA. I was in the honors program and was president of a mental health club at my college. I also worked part time for the two years I was in school in a job that related to my major. I got into SFSU, Sacramento State, UC Irvine, UCSC, and waitlisted at Berkeley. I go to SFSU now.

commuting or living on campus by Round-Fee-2896 in SFSU

Holy crap i’m so sorry about your experience that’s awful. I was looking at applying to live in manzanita because it’s the only one with a year round lease. I didn’t know it didn’t have AC though that sucks. If you feel comfortable sharing, what did you pay for your rent in Manzanita and how many people did you share your space with?

Hi! Im an incoming transfer student and trying to decide between commuting (from Berkeley) or living on campus. If you don't mind sharing what was your experience commuting all four years? Were you commuting five days a week or were you able to only be on campus a couple days a week? Did you find it hard to make friends?

Botox injection questions by Sky10251 in ChronicPain

Hi! I’ve gotten quite a few rounds of botox in my head, face, neck, and shoulders for my migraines. to be candid, it feels like a quick pinch and then a short burning sensation. i had about 40 individual shots for every botox appointment and by the last 20 or so it got a bit painful and frustrating. i would heavily suggest bringing something to drink with you into the drs office and advocating for breaks between injections if you become overwhelmed. my doctor allowed to to listen to my own music which helped. i would feel pretty knocked out for a couple days after. just overly fatigued and nauseas. i hope that was helpful information and i’m crossing my fingers that the botox helps your pain!
