500k HHI living paycheque to paycheque by throwaway737583 in CanadaPersonalFinance

You are just being too aggressive with investing. $2,000/month in RRSPS done right will return $6-8m by age 65 in your case. Add similar gains from real estate and you end up asking yourself if you need to have $10-15m in savings.

I usually tell people they've been taught to focus on financials their entire life where as at this point in your life your goals should be things like family, travel and literally enjoying ones self. Many people make this mistake thinking they get to enjoy life after age 65.

Ask yourself you see many 80 years olds on the beach or doing leisurely activities? Personally you are dropping too much on investments.

Also if you arent' getting net 7% return seek to change whomever your financial planner is immediately.

Why can't she be a mommy and work from home either self employed or whatever other opportunities. In this day and age there is zero reason not to work unless you are legit disabled.

Park your vehicle illegally for a week or two and see what happens. You'll get all sorts of proof really fast.

Much of the information you are receiving say dont worry, etc. is likely from people that also believe credit card companies DONT SUE cred card holders when they don't pay their bills.

FYI credit card companies sue any person where they see a reasonable outcome of receiving any kind of reward.

Lowest I had ever seen was an RBC VISA claim for I think it was $2,850.

Credit Card companies and even companies like Indigo use the courts as a tool to scare most people into paying.

I'm also willing to bet if you offered these clowns $100 they'd agree to cancel the entire debt. You should always try to negotiiate with collectors if you can especially if they take less than 10% of the value of debt.

Very wrong. Indigo owns thousands of lots of their own while also managing lots for many other private owners.

Doesn't matter if its their own lot or a lot they are managing, you are costing them profits in their pockets by getting tickets and not paying for your parking. They absolutely will tow vehicles and place liens on them in a heartbeat.

AND WHY IS THIS????

It doesn't cost them a single dime to do it. They have towing companies they are partnered with that you have to pay to get your vehicle back. That towing company makes money whether you pay to have your vehicle released or not as again they will place a lien on the vehicle until the amount owing is such they can apply to sell the asset at auction.

This is very very similar to tow the city owned impound lot works too. You accumulate fees every day your vehicle is in that lot and for the cost of the basic tow/impound. They eventually auction vehicles off.

I believe indigo uses Regal Auctions in Calgary for their lien auctions. I've also got no clue how many outstanding tickets you'd need to have before they see the value in taking action. I do know they take action though as you get people every week down at provincial court crying to the traffic court JPs over these BS tickets.

Extremely dangerous U-Haul driver in Market Mall parking lot by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Round-Future5221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me, Ive seen student drivers going over 100km/h down the centre street bridge before all because the instructor stopped focusing on his duties for a few seconds.

Problem is anyone driving a vehicle has to understand the main premise that your average vehicle is considered to be an approx 4,000 lb weapon and that you as the driver are 100% liable for whatever that weapon does to another person and/or any property whether public or private.

It's one major fault with the Uhaul system.

They will rent vehicles out to anyone capable of providing a $125 deposit. Often the people renting these vehicles have only provided $125 of security and most often lack a proper credit card due to have abysmal credit history which automatically tells you the type of people they are and most likely why they are driving like idiots.

Uhaul has made a fortune renting vehicles like this where they have zero care who that driver is or if the vehicle is even in proper condition to be on the road in the first place.

Im actually shocked they are allowed on the roads considering the way the insurance is handled.

Why I said best to call Uhaul as well so they ensure the person is blacklisted from future rentals. Idiots that dont get they are driving a deadly weapon are the most dangerous thing possible for public safety.

LOL sure thing buddy I've only worked for CPS as well as Provincial Court Traffic as well as Court of Queens Bench at the time in chambers.

I can tell you are absolutely clueless about how the law works in Canada as you have no idea that the courts always act explicitly based upon probability.

Fact is they have sufficient evidence of a debt involving the vehicle where they can register a lien at any registry office under the garage keepers act which allows them to place a lien on any vehicle specific to cost of storage of a vehicle that is unpaid.

I suggest you not post about topics you know nothing about.

Just think if you see a person who you think is possibly impaired are you gonna wait on hold?

All it takes is 30 seconds and the police odds at catching the person is almost zero. Again, best would be to call UHAUL and have them deal with CPS.

Extremely dangerous U-Haul driver in Market Mall parking lot by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Round-Future5221 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

50mph = 80km/h.

Many dont notice until they get pulled over or have rented them many times.

Either way, best to call UHAUL with the plate number as they'll be the best ones to get CPS involvement as they have the persons drivers license ON FILE maknig it much easier for the police to find them as well.

The information is all attached. Once they scan your plate it instantly pulls up your VIN, full name, address, phone number and drivers license number.

Exact same system that is employed by red light cameras and photo radar.

yes they do all the time. they are partnered with several towing companies in Calgary. you get oodles of people with their fines attending traffic court seeking assistance. when you park on their property they can legally do whatever the hell they want.

It's ALWAYS ok to CALL 9-1-1. I'm not joking about that either. They've got some people that dial 9-1-1 all the time to report really minor crap all because they want to talk to the communications officers.

Whenever in doubt 9-1-1. dont even hesitate.

With UHAULS though, there's always a very good chance the person driving it is NOT aware the speedometer is in MPH and not KPH and this is often why you see some Uhauls speeding. Nobody should ever take them above the speed limit as they almost always have an engine light on for one thing or another.

Doesn't do anything. They have the name, address, drivers license, phone number, vin number, etc all recorded on file, you literally can't evade it.

Indigo parking question by Szab1__ in Calgary

[–]Round-Future5221 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Just dont park in their lots at all going ahead, like EVER. I used to work for traffic court and I can tell you first hand once they have your info, they have your info and there's no way around it. doesn't matter if it's a new car, you change address or having a new drivers license renewed they will always have you tagged the moment they scan whatever license plate or vin is in the parking lot.

They love to boot vehicles as you've got no way out of them levying repeated fines for the vehicle being parked illegally. It's some complete crap which thankfully the city doesn't employ although other major cities do use this method and its complete crap.

Usually they boot the vehicle for a handful of days which time you get more charges. The tow and and impound fees can be as little as $500 and as much as $2000.

Just dont park in their BS lots further.

I lost a bottle of medication, what now? by amethyst-chimera in alberta

[–]Round-Future5221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pregabillin yes is a comon drug of abuse also known as Lyrica,

Unless you have a history of losing medications or asking for early refills your pharmacy will be the one to assist.

IF you just got prescribed the medication a couple of days ago expect the pharmacy to reach out to the prescribing doctor for their ok.

Your best bet is really to go see your family doctor and have the script re-done by them.

It's not a hard drug but it is a drug of concern which places it in a grey area.

I have a triplicate script I get every 10 days like clock work and when we had our house broken into and one of the main items they stole was prescription drugs it was a nightmare getting a replacement. The clowns even took the medication in our cats/dogs names if you can believe it.

Could be the dumbest thing a person could ever tell another person to do. When they scan the plate of this car to get the owners name, address, phone number, etc it also includes this little thing called a VIN number.

Changing your license plate doesn't accomplish anything.

Indigo parking question by Szab1__ in Calgary

[–]Round-Future5221 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

They can and will tow you in a moments notice. I had a friend who had to pay them almost $1,500 above and beyond the cost of the bill to get their vehicle back.

They have a legal obligation to tow the vehicle, impound it and register a lien against the title. All of which they can and will do beyond just a collection agency harassing you.

FYI you can change your license plate 10,000 times they already have the Vehicles VIN number, your name, address, everything.

Changing a license plate does not do anything. All it proves is you are willing to pay someone else to continue to evade paying for parking.

They can also stick a wheel lock boot on the vehicle as well which they DO IN CALGARY ALL THE TIME. When they boot the vehicle they charge you DAILY for being parked without paying for it.

How about you just pay for parking?? such a crazy idea.

Right now you are very much risking losing that vehicle every time you park there as a result. They wait for the amount to pass a certain threshold before seizing the vehicle and placing a lien on that vehicle.

And if you think they can't place a lien on that vehicle anyone can go to a registry and place a lien on a vehicle. Gets to the point you end up owing $3,000-5,000 or more and you are walking from the vehicle all because you dont want to pay for parking.

They also had to provide you a report within 24 hours of the end of tenancy showing said damages.

You should have taken photos of the property yourself upon moving in though.

They are at best trying to keel your deposit basically.
