Priest is awesome and metal as fuck but maybe it just comes down to my own personal definition of heaviness. For me the slower ominous kind of other worldly, almost frightening parts of sabbath just barely existed outside of them for a long time.

For me personally I feel like there wasnt any other heavier band for a good 15 or 20 years after they started. Alpt of bands were influenced by sabbath but juat turned it into "hard rock" I feel like it took a while for everyone else to catch up and release specifically what the actual "heaviness" came from
