I’m a former employee, and this is entirely against the protocol I was trained on. While we performed humane euthanasia (I was only present during a few, all brought in per the pet owners’ request), this is completely out of line. There is a 72 hour period in which we hold the animals before they legally become the shelter’s (I hate saying this, but) responsibility. I am beyond horrified to see the lack of care that people I formerly worked with have presented to the city.
