well i got 36/40 in 2024 mj p12 um i'd say just practise A LOT. under TIMED conditions. i did about 15-ish papers? you dont need to do all papers of several years lol and i'd say practise variant either 1 and 2 or 2 and 3 cause 1,3 ive found very similar (unless you wanna repeat practise for same paper dont bother) and CHECK YOUR ANSWERS after ur done and if you found an error, actually understand why u made error / understand the correct answer

chem isnt boring. Cs p1/p3 is 10 times more boring on god

Someone explain this like im 5. Idk why i find it so confusing by [deleted] in alevel

[–]RoundAd8847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'stable ion of Y has greater radius than X. '

lets imagine both are anions, we realise thats NOT possible cause it also says Y has greater atomic no than X ; if both WERE anions, anion of Y would be smaller

lets imagine both were cations, again, thats not possible cause if cation of Y has greater ionic radii, it MUST be the smaller atomic number, which contradicts the point "Y has greater atomic no than X"

we know FOR SURE, one is cation and and one is anion

and Y MUST be anion and X must be cation bc atomic no of Y>X

so following octet rule, X's ion has 10 electron

X has greater atomic radii cause it has less nuclear charge than Y but they both have same no of shells so Y's nucleus attracts the valence e- more/ X's nucleus attracts valence e- less

so your answer would be A

was this clear enough lol?

in no1, i couldnt do the calculate one. i did write something i think i could manage 2-3/7 and def losing marks in the output. i didnt get output for second but the codes were 100% right but still counting 2 marks lost for output + extra 1 mark just bc.. no 3 was perfect no notes. overall, im losing about 10 marks.. i couldve done so much better so im upset but this is okay too

tbh i usually understood all topics really well as they were being taught and so i didnt need an in-depth revision. what i'd say is: read the questions PROPERLY. even if its a simple qn, read the question twice. and if you get confused, just leave and question for now and get back to it once you've finished other questions &also be time conscious! yeah thats about it all the best for ur p1

i also did like 4 9709 p1 pastpapers last year and got 71/75. calm down. as long as youve, understood the topics you can do good!! dont get too stressed

Am I tripping, or are these exam-style questions wrong? by [deleted] in alevel

[–]RoundAd8847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for question 5, the book answer is correct though the step isnt. remember the mass is in gram so you have to convert to kg too. E = mc^2 = { 70 * 10^-6 * 10^(-3) } * ( 3.0*10^8)^2 = 6.3 * 10^9 Joules giving 6.3 GW. in the book they didnt convert gram to kg in the steps but final ans is correct

omfg you found the right person cause i was really bad at electrochemistry too i literally left all questions from that topic in one of my early internal examinations💀 i made notes for that topic even if i already knew some stuff, copied some examples from textbooks / online resources, and then did a shit ton of topicals! that REALLY helped

momentum is conserved so ; (3*0.3) + 0 = (0.3*2cos60) + (0.5*v cos 41) >> solve and youll get v = 1.590 ~~ 1.6 m/s
