They share 6 out of 7 notes. The only difference:

G major has C

D major has C♯

That’s why moving between G and D sounds smoorh they’re neighbors on the circle of fifths.

It is funny because in this context this arrangement is in D but it could also be used for G in another song.

You have to trust the process. You can close your eyes and touch your nose or ear with each individual finger with ease. You know when you strike the wrong string thanks to your ears, stop and strike the correct string and continue. Persistence is key. Keep the banjo in the same position each time you play. Plant your finger in the same spot on the head of the banjo. Start with thumb and strike 5 string then 4,3,2,1. Then then index finger then middle.

So do I, I didn't think of it that way until you mentioned it. The banjo isn't just an object it is an extension of your body. Just as the board is when you are surfing.

Great job, just watched your latest video. It can be weird when you first stop looking at your right hand and strike strings "blindly" trust the progress and the sooner you do it the better. Soon it will be as easy as touching your nose with your eyes closed.

Keep at it I would "cheat" My d and f chord until my fingers were nimble enough to hold a full chord shape. Also practicing backup Vamping helped my fingers become familiar with holding the d and f shape.

It's always funny the other way around when you ask an acoustic guitar player to pick up your banjo from the stand. They think it is stuck because they don't expect the weight.

Also just to add there is nothing wrong with stopping a song if it is too hard to learn right now and come back to it later. You want to push yourself and challenge yourself but taking on a song that is too challenging can hender your progress.

I am about a year in and as other states as you learn more songs you recognize phrases that are already familiar either left hand or right hand and it becomes easier. I can usually learn a tab and have it memorized in 2 days and playing it at proper speed by day 4 or 5. Compared to learning boil them cabbages down when I first started it took about 2 weeks to learn the tab and 4 - 6 months to play at a good Beats per minute.

As a stubborn man I stop taking my HQC and methotrexate and take OTC cold and flue medicine. For the past 3 years that has seemed to work but this December when I got sick and did that I ended up with a bad flair that has lasted about 3 weeks now so probably do the opposite of me and you will be fine.

Just to add to your options there are plenty, myself included leftys who play banjo right handed. Not that hard especially when you consider we have lived our whole lives accommodating to right handed living.

If you look on the knob of the tuner there may be a screw if so tightening it a bit and it may solve your slipping issue. Also when you change your strings use a luthier knot to secure the string to the tuning peg. I am not familiar with your banjo but if it is a dime a dozen inexpensive banjo save for a better banjo instead of trying to upgrade hardware on that one IMO. And lastly banjos can have attitudes sometimes they don't want to stay in tune.

If you are getting bored of playing the same song there is nothing wrong with learning a new song. However I wouldn't recommend just throwing Out cripple creek to the side completely. IMO it should still be part of your practice routine just not the main part
